He does NOT need a warrant for something like that. The forth Amendment does not apply to phone tapping. And btw, if its Terrorist related, its war related. Remmber the whole "War or Terror" thing? Iraq and Afganistan are fronts in this war. |

Our government put Japanese in camps because we thought they were spies. Then it was discovered the only spies were American. We're not putting anyone in camps or anything, but one must realize that the government is hardly infallible in their judgement. Since this wire-tapping supposedly only covers calls from overseas to America, it's efficiency is questionable and I dare say we're probably looking in the wrong place. Again. I think I'm more concerned with the terrorists over here. |

Wrong and right. He does need a warrant, not because it says so in the Constitution, but because it's a law in place. And Right, nothing in the fourth admendment. I'm not condoning what Bush did. I'd prefer if he passed a secret vote in Congress to make this legal, he would have gotten it with all his buddies in there. but I don't see the horribly wrong thing he did.
And from America to overseas. That's important. Terrorists here get fundings, weapons, and enlistment from al-Quieda. Right now, they are the only open hostile threat. Could the KKK drive a plane into the NAACP building? Sure. But we have no idea if they're planning it. Bin Ladin promises more attacks. |

Wind Sword, it's highly unlikely that the terrorists are retarded enough to call from America to overseas and just spill their secret plans when they know that there was a bill that was passed that lets the gov't tap phones of suspected terrorists. |

Wrong, Al Qaeda is the threat the Bush Administration and the media are most infatuated with. We aren't tapping phone lines of North Korean/American citizens because of Kim Jong Il, we aren't tapping one of my Iranian friend's phones because Iran stared a nuclear program, it's just a ploy to get past the Fourth Ammendment, hopefully someone will shut them down. The one reason I'm against it is because anyone can decide to do it. If they got another kind of warrant to set it off, I'd be cool with it. Without having to file any paperwork to do it, the Bush administration could accuse the Democratic Party of building pipe-bombs and tap their phones during the 2008 election.

Yes. We're capturing the retarded terrorists instead of the intelligent ones. I feel safe now. |

What? Duh. That's why I'm talking before some jerk journalist who wanted a new car blow the story. If it had gone through Congress, the plan would have failed. It failed when some guy brought it in to the public's eye. |

Bush doesn't have permission to tap into peoples phones. It's against the Constitution and breaking the law. He would've had to get a search warrant for it to legal at all. |

Its not against the consitution (I challenge you to find where it says so. The 4th amendment doesn't apply to phone conversations.) Its not agianst the law, as the President is well within his constitutional authority to do whats nessisary to defend this country. |
