I just found out that the N64 games for the virtual console will cost $10 each.

Weeeak. They should come packaged free with some of the Wii games, IMO. Like package a free LoZ game (like OOT) with Twilight Princess. $10 standalone is not at all worth it.

So no virtual console for me. Roms > pricey games.

*COUGH COUGH* :richie:

$10 is a bit much, but I have most N64 titles I want anyway, so I'll be hanging around the SNES era games and some Turbographics titles.

Is that some classic shooter return I see?

F-Zero is not a kiddy game.  D:

That game is one probably the most difficult game I've ever played. But still awesome.

It's not a mature game, either.

F-Zero is difficult? I can easily win in even the highest difficulties on the hardest courses with the Golden Fox, and that car is only mid-tier. >_>;

Most people seem to struggle with this game, but I don't get why.

Of course, I've been using the Golden Fox since F-Zero was new-gen on the SNES...

You talk of tiers saddens me lol.

$250 is entirely too expensive. $60 controllers!?!

Say goodbye to any hopes of attracting casual gamers Nintendo.

Are you kidding? It was $250 or lower the whole time. What were you expecting?

Instead of blasting off an editorial about Nintendo's day of announcement's yesterday while still digesting their news (and lovely gooey cookies and crustless sandwiches) I decided to come back to the hotel and go get drunk on sake with my wife, sleep it off and then write about the news.

I've had time to digest nearly everything by now.

I was really surprised by both Nintendo's choice of price and date. Initially, I thought that the company would try to launch a good month before Sony broke the Champaign bottle on the SS PS3, getting a mighty lead on their competition. And I figured they'd try to put just as much distance between the price of the two consoles as well.

But why should they?

They don't have to give the Wii away to win, they just need to be cheaper and offer up a good value. The console comes with a game, which I suspect would have sold for $40 not $50 if it hit the market separately, so that already knocks the price of the console down to $210. And Nintendo price was most likely determined by Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360. They just needed to release their console at a substantial discount and when they saw the price of their competition they realized they could actually sell the console at a profit, and still deliver a value compared to what has become today's standard for console pricing.

The date, well, the date just makes sense when you think about it.

All of this talk about Nintendo being a third console has sort of lulled me, and I suspect others, into thinking that Nintendo is the also ran, the other guy, a company knowingly making a console that no one is going to buy as their primary gaming rig.

Guess what? Nintendo doesn't think that way. Just because their mascots are cartoons doesn't mean that the company isn't out for blood. And this proves it.

Nintendo isn't just OK with people comparing the PS3 with the Wii, they want people to. They set the launch right on top of Sony's because they think they will win that comparison. And they don't just want to slip a knife in Sony's belly, they want to twist it a bit.

Check out what Reggie Fils-Aime was saying after the press conference: Consumers "can go take out a second mortgage and buy our competition's console, or they can buy ours."

I still think that Nintendo is taking a big risk injecting this disruptive technology into the gaming market, but I've gone from thinking that they will either sink or swim to thinking that they will do moderately well to tremendously well. Brian Crecente

This is a Kotaku article that really opened my eyes.

Playing the computer counts for something...? Besides, Golden Fox at DAD is only 2 letters away from EAE, teh überest car setting imaginable.

I'm not a proffesional gamer like you guys. D:

I can beat the hardest level just barely. The story mode is fucking insane, never passed it. You can't just pick up that game and find it easy, especially for the average gamer.

Yes, in F-Zero. Master Class computers are substantially better than anyone I've ever played except you, Mew2King, and my brother. They race nearly perfectly and actually abuse boosting. It's not like Smash where they have dumb patterns.

Golden Fox loses the most speed out of any car when it turns, and it loses nearl 200 km/h when you drift turn. Its body is crap. Its grip is crap. Its top speed is crap. It has good acceleration and the strongest booster. That's all. It's a terrible car unless you're very used to it.

I'm sure there are other people out there who don't suck at F-Zero, but there aren't any F-Zero tournies for us to find out about them.

Body and Grip are unimportant, ONLY booster is important :valter:.
