How to not Suck at SSBM

I actually read this a long time ago to learn about advanced tactics, and I found that it did help my game a lot because I learned how to pull off a lot of the moves.

However, it took a long time of playing in tournaments to learn how to execute all of that stuff properly in real matches.

If you read all of that and get those moves down, you won't suck anymore and you'll be able to wreck non-tourny players.

D: Teching is fun. :D
I gotta try to wavedash with Link. T_T I've tried it but it's damn hard. I tried with Luigi and I can do it. D:

I normally jump with the movement stick. I dont use the x or y buttons.
Bit of a problem for Shffling.

Jumping with the control stick is easily one of the stupidest thing any Smasher could ever do. You get much more aerial control jumping with the buttons and using the c-stick for aerial moves. Jumping with the control stick also makes wavedashing and SHFFLing much more difficult.

Before you can progress in skill in even the slightest amount, you must break your habit of using the control stick to jump.

Why the hell would you want to do that?

Just start jumping with x/y and you'll be fine.

Jumping with the control stick = lame.

I hate how it messes me up, too, but I've learned through intuition the amount of time I have between the game's translation of a "jump" command and "tilt" command.

If you don't break it, you'll never get good at wavedashing and you'll have little aerial control. >_>;

Uh...you have no idea what you're talking about.

And I guess the people you play don't know anything about Directional Influence.
