He's good at being secretive, math, swordplay, and playing sides (although I think he got away with it as far as he did simply because Lloyd is a moron). Hates his Choseness for the above reason, as well as the fact that there's people who want to take advantage of him and / or kill him. I'd say they're valid reasons. 2. Compensates by making it appear that he loves himself, and even that doesn't seem to be 100% genuine.
