If this retailer was in violation of the law buy selling PSPs like they did, so what? Sony was fully within their rights to do so, apparently. Change the laws first, you can't blame a company for looking out for their best interest. |

I didn't read the whole article, but I think they probably shut themselves down because they couldn't afford the penalities they would receive from the lawsuits. |

That would be my best guess. I think I'm going to have to take Sony's side if what they were doing was illegal. Sony does really dumb things, but that doesn't mean they're always in the wrong. |

They made it illegal for Europeans to purchase imported PSPs and soon PS3s. So yes, what lik chang was doing was illegal, but it's a retarded law. Imagine a law was passed that you had to hop on one foot 3x every day. Yeah you could follow it but its stupid. |

That's an absurd comparision. It's more like you have a product, and you get to decide where you want to sell it at. If you don't want to sell it in a certain region, as per your business model, you have every right to do so. People going around that are breaking the law. Basically, it is their product, they can decide to do whatever they want with it. |

I'm going to have to disagree with you Sent. Sony may have the right to do what it wants with its product, but by the same token, consumers have the right to resell the things they buy as long as they give credit to whoever made it. It's not like lik-sang was saying they made the damn playstation. Whoever the law sides with, this is still wrong. |

It depends on the local laws of the country of export and country of import. The government has a much tighter leash on companies in Europe than in, say, Asia and the Americas. The laws are, proportionately, harsher thus. $ony shutting down the whole site was pretty retarded, but exporting could be construed as piracy in some contexts, specifically in the instance where exportations are going to regions where the company in question intends on tapping the demand. But if everyone gets what they want, that will choke demand and kill they hype. Thus, it results in slipped sales. $ony sucking hard as they do, I don't blame them for being fascist-paranoid. |

If they are within their legal rights, they can do whatever they want to. Sony doesn't have to sell PSPs or PS3s in Europe at all! You guys act like people are entitled to this stuff. If it is their product, they have the ulitimate authority on how they want it sold. If you owned a company standing to make money via jacked-up european prices, you would do the same thing. Change the laws, don't blame the company for doing what is in it's best interest. |

I don't blame sony, I know they are evil and this is expected of them. What you need to see is that legal and right are not the same. Anything that takes away power from consumers is proabably bad imo. |
