I really like that Volke one. B| Now, onto the constructive criticism...

I think you need to work on your shading. You don't have a full range of values. See, on most of your attempts at shading I see one light hue of acolor and a darker hue. They do look like shading, but it doesn't look quite right. Use middle colors to emphasize shade, use a whole range of colors instead of just two.

As in:

Darkest blue -> Dark blue -> Normal Blue -> Light Blue -> Lightest Blue

Hope that helped.

Shading IS difficult to get right. Practise, and you'll get it eventually.

I really like some of the stuff you just posted, btw. Working on your shading a little, and you'll be pretty awesome.

hmm yes that volke is pretty decent. as far as shading goes, you would really only need maybe one more color, if you over shade it will look like crap, for instance, in FE9 most of the time for custom stuff I try to have at least 10 shades, but sometimes I find myself using only five, and it still looks pretty good. so i would say (based on my small experience with FE6-8) that three shades should be fine with an occaisional four or five, and even then only to make the lines between dark and light a liitle more smooth.

BOOM! Headshot. :3

I have a bit of of a tip. For shading and such, you can use shades from another mug with the same hair color, and they already have about 3 or 4 shades. Then go through it darkest to brightest, or vice versa.

Uh...Does that make sense? :XD:

Crysta told me that one.

Here's a link that may explain things better. :pacman: http://z11.invisionfree.com/Fire_Emblem_Fu...?showtopic=2750

ooh with a bit more defining that looks good, but the to shoulder pad layers don't blend, they seem to be twodifferent qualities.
