I got 1st place in FE 7 but Eaichu and CATS weren't in it. I did have to beat Sentenal and Merk was in it, too, though he didn't debate me and just forfeited.

If Eaichu and CATS entered, 1st place wouldn't have been such a certainty. I might have had it, but CATS has awesome Oifaye destroying arguements and Eaichu is an FE nerd like me, so...

Heh, thanks. I only managed 2nd place in FE 9 and I'm looking at a 2nd place finish in FE 8, as well. I'm expecting 3rd in FE 6, to be honest, since it has almost every debate powerhouse in it at once. I've got Merk, Sentenal, Eaichu, and CATS to deal with... XD

I pick marcus because hes a jeigan, and a damn good one.

*Oifaye

No, an Oifaye has good stats.

Seth is pretty Oifaye-ish, but he fails for being in FE8 where he's as unneeded as Renault is in FE7... Ok, not fail, but it pulls him all the way into the lower high-tier, IMO.

Marcus has fine statistics, though. His only statistic that holds him back is SPD, since everything else is fine for even later portions of the game. HP/STR = good. SKL/RES = great. Marcus is more of an Oifaye than a Jeigan since he stays powerful much longer than any Jeigan does.

Seth is an Oifaye, and strong. He is able to fight on the frontlines from start to finish. In fact, he's probably the strongest Oifaye because of FE 8. The enemies in the final chapters are mostly slow monsters that even his 20 SPD can consistently double attack, so his one flaw is meaningless. Titania is stronger, but her STR holds her back due to the durability of FE 9 enemies.

Marcus' stats a quite inferior compared to MANY other units, if his stats were comparable he'd be an Oifaye.

As for Seth, the fact that he's in FE8 hurts him. Jeigan's Oifaye's are mainly used to ease the earlygame and midgame tasks which require high move or something else that only the Jeigan has at that point.

Seth isn't needed for any such tasks in FE8, now don't get me wrong. I love Seth for his RNG-proofness, but he doesn't have the same rank-getting utility value Marcus does, and that hurts him. He's still a pretty good unit, though.

What? His Hp, Spd and Def are garbage, and his Str is unimpressive. He sucks in the stats that matter. Most other prepromos have better stats than him D:
Reikken: I'm halfway through reading it, but it's so bad; I can't finish.

Inui: You say Ilia holds more weight, but I don't, since Shin >>> Pegs and Sacae is more fun due to enemies that aren't fail and not having to move through forests all day.

---

SACAE. It's more fun than Ilia.

Seth can still frontline from the very beginning to the very end, and he is the only Oifaye/Jeigan capable of such. Titania's STR hurts her too much towards the end of her game, and Oifaye himself can't do much in the final chapter besides abuse his class's movement and get lucky with Critical.

Marcus is never weaker than your enemies. A shared trait amongst Jeigans is that they all become outclassed by basic enemies in the midgame. Marcus is not outclassed until the final chapter, which is all bosses.

Marcus can frontline, if used and leveled up, until the very end of the game. If he's level ??/17 or more by Victory or Death, he does fine.

Marcus is better than the original Jeigan, IIRC. So he's good.

Thus, an Oifaye.

Ah, I thought you were implying that he's no match for Oifaye. oki then.

And look at all this argument I caused, just because I said I like Marcus. :P

There's no way I won the FE 7 tournament, with Sentenal and Merk both entered, using a Jeigan.

If Marcus is a Jeigan, then everyone I beat sucks. Period.

Well, I can't say Sentenal and Merk chose the best of characters; Sent's character is pretty bad too, and while Merk's had a better chance than the other two, I can't say I hold Lowen in too high of a regard anyway.

Marcus is probably borderline Oifaye, though. He's not so bad as to call him a Jeigan, but he doesn't have the raw destructive power Seth and Titania do. Seth and Titania can actually compete for a final team spot, Marcus can't. On the other side of the fence, though, Marcus completely WTFpwnz Jeigans, so it's really unfair to lump him in with them.

It's FE8, Gilliam can frontline, Franz can frontline, Ephraim can frontline, Gerik can frontline, Vanessa can frontline.

What matters is that Seth has inferior stats when compared to a fair share of other 20/1 units. Marcus has insane earlygame value to save him from this, and even though Seth gains good stats through his growths (late in the game) it's not enough to outweigh that around the time he should actually be used other units are superior.

If he had earlygame value like Marcus, he'd be top tier for sure, but he doesn't, which brings him down.

Oh, and Marcus=w1n.
