Zidane was always entitled to 12 MOV!

I don't often look in this forum. I read stories on occasion, posting even less often than I read. But I'm sort of tired of everything I do being based on/limited by statistics. So I'm going to take my favorite thing on the forum: The RPG, and write a story about it.

Updates maybe be small, and far apart due simply to the fact that updating the RPG itself takes priority over my own desires here.

As for the storyline itself? Well, the characters in the story will be the characters in the current RPG, and it will take place on Jugdral, but that's where the similarities end. It'll have nothing to do with battles already completed in the RPG, nor will it have any effect on the RPG (unless power-crazy leaders take the ideas written in this story a little too seriously).

Introduction and logic aside, I'm going to now try to use the portion of my brain that doesn't often get a workout-- my imagination.

Chapter 1 – A Man’s Desire

A figure could be seen walking down the street of a small village in eastern Agustria. His hometown only recently taken over by an army originating from the east he was forced to evacuate to the north. Now he seeked refuge anywhere he could. He had little money and even less morale. But still he pushed on, in hopes that he could recover his strength.

Upon entering a tavern he approached the tavern master.

“Hey there, miss! What can I get you?”

“I’m a guy.”

“Oh.”

The tavern master thought about his mistake and followed up with an apology. “Well? You look pretty warn out. Is there something I can get you?”

The man with long silver hair and sapphire eyes looked at the selection of ciders and ales standing across from him then looked up to the man. “Do you serve tea?”

The tavern master thought for a second again. “Well, generally no, but I’ll see what I can find”. With that the tavern master left the room in search of tea.

The man with silver hair sat down and pulled out a warn book. He began to write in it.

“Campaign day: 47. Separated from my guild since the Thracians took the southern borderline. I move north in hopes to regain my strength and find some new members. I find myself in a small village surrounded by mountains. The locals seem nice, untouched by war. If only things were like this everywhere. Given the rate of Thracian advance it’s only a matter of weeks before this village is discovered. Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do to protect the village myself so I make all efforts to gather those who I can and then press north to Agusty. If I can find the 17th division—The October Knights, I may be able to organize a counter-attack against the Thracians.”

As he put his book away the tavern master returned with a warm mug of tea and some cookies. “Here you go young master. On the house.”

“I appreciate that.”

“May I ask who you are? I don’t think I’ve seen your face around here.”

“I’m a traveler from the south. Nothing more.”

“Oh. I see. Well, if there’s any way I can help you feel free to ask. I’m full of knowledge.”

The man thought to himself, “how cliché. A bartender full of “knowledge”.

----------

“Jia! Be sure to be home for dinner!”

A yell could be heard echoing in the distance as a girl hopped on her hose and began to ride the worn roads of the village.

“I’ll try, mom!”

Jia, an indigo-haired girl with a bow slung on her back and a haversack full of arrows mounted on waist proceeded to ride east of the village in hopes to find some fun. See, she was bored of her small-village life and often went into the neighboring forest to hunt. Little did she know this day would be different.

----------

The man in the tavern was finishing his tea when he saw a girl ride by on her horse. She looked strong, and young. Good qualities for a warrior, and potential apprentice.

“There she goes again.” The Tavern Master noted.

“Who?”

“Her name’s Jia. One of the prettiest girls in town, yet one of the most reckless.”

“Where’s she going?”

“Huntin’ I’d assume. In the eastern forest.”

“Appreciated. I’ve got to go,” the man said as he placed down his empty mug and plate of crumbs, “Thanks for the tea and cookies!”

With that the man ran out the door of the tavern with a new albeit premature sense of determination.

----------

Somewhere east of the village a man on a Wyvern and a lady on a Pegasus could be seen landing in the forest.

“The boss said he was around here.” The man hopped off his Wyvern and poked at the ground with his lance.

“Patience Psion. Lord Sentenal knows all. If he said that Lunesta was around here then that’s where he is.”

“I’m not so sure, Farika. We would’ve found him by now. We’ve searched just about everywhere in the area. Any more north and we’ll be in Agusty territory. To the east is Grandbell, held by the Children’s Alliance. If we’re seen in either territory that’ll alert them to the Battalion’s presence. That would also mean our heads.”

“If we don’t recapture Lunesta our heads will be fodder for Sentenal’s Wyvern, anyway!”
Farika hopped off her Pegasus and picked up a rock. “Why does this forest have to be so big?”

“Quiet, someone’s coming our way!”

The two retreated to the foliage as their rides flew off.

----------

“What a wonderful day for hunting” Jia thought to herself as she rode deeper into the forest. She began whistling but didn’t get too far into her song before she noticed some un-natural roughness in the foliage ahead.

She rode up to it and noticed that two rather heavy creatures must’ve landed here, as well as some footprints. Odd, almost nobody has reason to enter this forest. She got off her horse but as she began examining the footprints closer she was punted in the back of the head with a small stone.

“How rude!” She yelped as she jumped up. Two figures seem to surround her, one in front and one behind. One began to talk.

“Nice shot! Is this the one, Farika?”

“No, you dolt! We’re looking for a GUY!”

“A really girly guy with what I was told!”

“Does this one have silver hair or blue eyes?”

The two continued to discuss something but shortly Jia interrupted. “Wait. You two think I’m a guy?”

“No, we—“

“FIRST you throw a rock at my head, THEN you call me a guy! How rude!”

“Shuddup!” The man snorted as he grabbed the girl and disarmed her of her weapons.

“Hey, let go!”

“We’ll let go when you tell us where Lunesta’s hiding!”

“Lun—who’s Lunesta!?”

“Don’t play dumb, girly,” Farika said as she picked up another stone, “I’ll punt you with every stone on the ground until you talk.”

“I’m telling you! I know nobody by the name Lunesta!”

Chapter 2 – Give Me a Break

Agusty Castle:
A young man, probably in his early 20s sat on his throne in Agusty castle. The green haired mage was busy chewing on a Kit Kat when one of his officers came running in with a scroll of paper.

“MASTER SARGON!” the robed man yelled, handing the scroll of paper to his superior, “TALLANVOR SENDS FOR AID!”

Sargon, putting down his chocolaty goodness read the scroll.

“Request to any division of October Knights in the area,
Unknown forces striking from the south. Rumored to have originated somewhere in the Yied desert they’ve quickly sprung up and have taken over southern Isaac. Their numbers are far greater than our own and even as I write this thy make their way towards Isaac [capital]. Assistance would be highly appreciated from anyone in the area to receive this message.

~ Tallanvor”

After reading the scroll Sargon looked up to his officer.
“Uhm, Simon?”

“YES, SIR! WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE ME DO, SIR?!”

“Cut the “sir”, and use your indoor voice. The castle nursery doesn’t appreciate loud voices.”

“RIGHT SI—I mean,” Simon quickly quiets his voice, “what would you have me do, sir?”

“Well, first off, where did you find this scroll?”

“I brought it here, all the way from Isaac, sir.”

“Oh? Why didn’t you bring it to the 8th division?”

“..I didn’t think about that, sir.”

“You do realize they’re stationed in the Yied desert?”

“No, sir, I didn’t think about that.”

“.. I see. Well, while you’ve been crossing the continent bringing this to me, our friends in Isaac are probably already being over-run by this ‘unknown force’.”

“Sir, I didn’t realize. I’m sorry, sir.”

Sargon stood up, passing the scroll back to Simon. “No worries, I’ve a new mission for you. Bring this scroll to Grandbell, and have King Zidane read it.”

“Sir, yes, sir!”

Sargon was about to leave when Simon caught up with him. “But what about you, Sir?”

“Me? Well, I’m going to the Yied desert. I’ve new orders for Kali and Marja and I’m going to deliver those myself.”

“By yourself, sir?” Simon looked confused.

“To travel as one would bring less attention than to travel by many. Anyway, I’m passing through Grandbell territory. King Zidane would have no objections. Just make sure you gain his support in this cause.”

“Sir! I understand you, sir.” Simon said as he ran down the castle hallway excited about his new mission.

Sargon walked down the hallway to his room, gathering his supplies and some old tomes for the journey. Better to be safe than sorry. Shortly thereafter he could be seen leaving the castle in an eastward direction.

----------
Somewhere in the forests in East Agustria.
Lunesta whistled to himself as he continued to follow the horse prints left in the soft dirt. He thought to himself, asking himself why this girl, Jia, would come all the way out here for no apparent reason.

But no sooner was he thinking than he overhead voices in the distance. How odd, there are others out here as well. Hiding behind a tree he overheard the conversation.

“Hey, let go!” a girl screamed.

“We’ll let go when you tell us where Lunesta’s hiding!” another, manly voice responded.

“Lun—who’s Lunesta!?”

“Don’t play dumb, girly,” a third, angry voice responded, “I’ll punt you with every stone on the ground until you talk.”

“I’m telling you! I know nobody by the name Lunesta!”

“Heh. I bet you don’t”, said the man in a sarcastic tongue.

Lunesta thought to himself some more: How the heck did they find me? Did they follow me up here? And why are they using innocents to try and pinpoint my exact location? Hm, well, I guess I could understand that. The henchman-hostage bit, how cliché. Either way I can’t let them torment this girl just to save my own skin.

Lunging out from behind the tree Lunesta mustered up a mighty fire spell, launching it at the first target he saw: Farika. Narrowly missing Psion and Jia the fireball scored a direct hit to the target sending her flying back into a tree. All was silent for a second, but Jia took advantage of the situation at hand and elbowed Psion and squeezing herself free. She quickly jumped up on her horse, who though all that didn’t move an inch, and pulled out her bow clumsily loading it and aiming it back and fourth between the two whom had held her hostage. Lu joined her side as Farika pulled herself up as she let out a whistle.
The silence was broken when Lunesta let out a sarcastic remark:

“You found me.”

Psion, letting out a quick whistle of his own responded only by pulling out his lance and holding it out to Lu said, “You’re coming with us.”

“I think not!”

Two flying figures come booming down from the sky, as Farika and Psion both jump. Safely they land on their rides, a Pegasus and Wyvern, respectively.

“Then we’ve no choice but to eliminate the target!” Farika yelled, both the Wyvern and Pegasus letting out a screaming roar.

The two lunged forward, lances out, but Lunesta was too quick and sidestepped Psion’s leavy lance. Farika flew straight at Jia whom let out an arrow connecting with the Pegasus’s left wing. The Pegasus let out a yelp and losing the use of that wing make a quick right turn plunged straight into Lunesta who certainly wasn’t ready for that. Lunesta and Farika go flying as Psion comes in for another attack. Jia quickly reloads to finish the job. Not caring for his own ally Psion’s lance was out, pointing straight at the dazed Lunesta, as well as Farika whom was lodged behind him. His wyvern picked up speed, but as he was about to strike something pierces his back armor, and becomes lodged in his back.

“Bullseye!” Jia sceamed.

“Gah!” Psion responded as he felt the blood trickling down his back, “another day.”

The injured Psion flew away from the battle as Farika reached for her lance.

“I think not!” Lunesta snapped as he stepped on her reaching hand. “You’ve got a lot of explaining to do.”
