Psio is talking about Paladins, who also can use Knight Ward. |

Reikken: I'm halfway through reading it, but it's so bad; I can't finish. --- Inui: You say Ilia holds more weight, but I don't, since Shin >>> Pegs and Sacae is more fun due to enemies that aren't fail and not having to move through forests all day. --- SACAE. It's more fun than Ilia. | |

I've failed to come up with something witty, so I hope you will enjoy this filler text instead.

No, it's in random too, but now that I see you were talking about Paladins.... YOU FAIL FOR BRINGING OVERKILL BASTARDS LIKE THEM INTO THIS! *runs* Srsly, though, Paladins are massive overkill in this game. |

Actually I wasn't even talking about paladins, I don't see them as the tank type of unit even if they have the stats for it. |

Huh. In the small parties this place favors, I'm surprised at the notion of Gatrie > Brom; by endgame level around here, Brom's capped Str and Def anyway, and he has better Speed due to higher base and more time to use the Knight Ward (lower level than Gatrie when he rejoins). Paladins can use the Knight Ward, but they already have acceptable Speed; giving it to them is overkilled Speed if I've ever seen it. (Reminds me of the first time I used Astrid; not knowing the KW's real bonus, I gave it to Astrid. >_>) |

Kieran, Oscar and Makalov might as well be invincible after they promote. Not too far away from it even before. |

Gatrie caps his Def and Str sooner, though, and by giving him the Knight Ward you're saved the trouble of raising Brom (who is underlevelled), and you get a equally good unit, anyway. |

Not sure There aren't many units that don't cap speed that have decent DEF and RES period, <<; I just always envision a unit like Nephenee as a main tank due to high combined offense and defense while not having the ability to hit and run. |

I prefer the ability to double, and be SURE not to take any damage, Knight Ward'd Gatrie does that. Nephenee does not... |

Brom HP: 54.2 STR: 26.6 MAG: 6.1 SKL: 25.6 SPD: 16.7 LUK: 10.2 DEF: 29.3 RES: 12.7 Gatrie HP: 57.5 STR: 28.7 MAG: 3.5 SKL: 24.2 SPD: 14.5 LUK: 12.5 DEF: 29.8 RES: 12.0 Let's see... Brom has 2 more AS, and a pretty worthless 2 more Evd. 1 more Res and 3 more Hit. Gatrie has 2 more Atk, 1 more Def, and 4 more HP. It's basically 2 AS vs 2 Atk + 1 Def + 4 HP. Brom's other wins are completely meaningless, even when added together. Brom's joining situation kind of bothers me, too. Gatrie is just so much more useful to me since he has earlygame Oifaye-ish uses and is easier to raise. |

Gatrie Shinon (3|8|10) Illyana (4|8|12) Marcia (3|7|10) Astrid (3|6|11) Brom Boyd (4/8/11) Nephenee (4/8/11) Zihark (3/6/9) Definitely seeing supports as a clear win for Gatrie, too. Not only does he have one more option than Brom, but his options tend to be the better units. His supports are also overall slightly faster. |

What? How are Gatrie's options the better units? And yes, Brom's 2 Spd beats whatever stats Gatrie has. |

Both aren't doubling, though. So what does it matter? How are Gatrie's supports NOT better? Astrid and Ilyana > Brom's options. |

Shinon's not that great, Ilyana sucks; Marcia is his only decent support. Astrid is usable, but she's outclassed by Kieran and Oscar. Brom however has a Zihark support, which Zihark will actually want to give to Brom which grants 15 avoid to both units. Now Brom's dodging AND taking little damage. That's awesome. Nephenee is also a better choice than Marcia, and Boyd is a great unit who would also like to support with Brom. |
