One serious d00d

What are the ranks for this game? Are they different from FE7?
Reikken: I'm halfway through reading it, but it's so bad; I can't finish.

---

Inui: You say Ilia holds more weight, but I don't, since Shin >>> Pegs and Sacae is more fun due to enemies that aren't fail and not having to move through forests all day.

---

SACAE. It's more fun than Ilia.

that moron that forgot this is s11

I think they are. Not sure, though.

Please disregard the fact that I've yet to see anything of it besides stats and screenshots.

The rank system is slighty different.

There is a weapons rank and a time rank. The rest are the same as FE7

There are no stars like in FE7. In the battle preparations screen, you can ask Lalum/Elphin how are you doing in the ranks and he/she will say stuff like "You are doing a splendid job" or "Neither good nor bad". You can also ask how you are doing overall and when you put the cursor over a certain rank, it gives you a small description.

At the end of the game, they'll give you a letter for every rank and your total rank.

Unfortunately, the only save file I have right now is at the final chapter and I can't access the battle preparations screen so I can't check what the weapons and time ranks are.

The fan translation has

Overall

Length
Battle Skill
Casualties
Experience
Funds
Power

They get rated out as Splendid/Very Well/Fine and I assume there are lower grades also. At the end those get converted into letter grades in the familiar S/A/B... system. You can get an Overall S ranking without getting a perfect score in each little category a la FE7. I think Battle Skill is the analog of the Combat FE7 ranking and the same for length and tactics. The Length and Combat rankings seems pretty forgiving, too. Power I'm not sure about - it might be total or average unit level? Or is that the Weapons rating?

I haven't done anything unusual in my active ranking game, mostly getting XP for the obvious units and recruiting everyone, and my Power score is at Very Well at chapter 14.

Edit - Nevermind, that's all wrong. Splendid in the augury pre-battle screen means an A score in a given category, and I assume that all A scores in the subcategories yields an S rank in the end, meaning it's like FE7, you have to get perfect scores in all the subcats to get the S overall. The category called "Power" changes translation to "Weapon" at the end, and I never really understood what was changing it (using the divine weapons?). I'm also a little suspicious that the fan translation might have transposed some of the ranking categories either on the final screen or in the augury screen, because some of my scores seemed to switch.

I'm bumping this because I can't figure out what the mystery sixth rank in FE6 is. The final post-credit rank summary is even more confusing than I thought - it goes:

Left column:
Tactics
XP
Time

Right column:
Survival
Weapon
Funds

The CWW faq on GFaqs translates it as:

Left:
Tactics
Combat
Funds

Right:
Survival
Experience
Kills

He also gives "kills" as the translation in the augury screen.

So, the translation patch has "Power" in augury, "Weapon" on the post-credits, and GFaqs calls both "Kills". Someone or other is also clearly transposing labels in the post-credits screen,

There is obviously a significant difference in the necessary strategy if you have to get large numbers of kills, since that will require things like waiting turns for reinforcements and arena scumming. Similarly, if Weapon is the accurate translation, and means something like how many shots of the Divine Weapons you have left, that will also require special endgame strategies and Hammerne hoarding. "Power" is anyone's guess. My assumption is that the augury screen translation in the patch is correct aside from power, which is supposed to be "Kills", but I'm not sure.

Which is it?

Anyway, if anyone wants to consider my anecdote, the turns, combat and funds rankings in FE6 are very easy. The XP ranking is hard, and will require you to do things like level up people you don't intend to promote or support, and gives you (even more) of a reason to use anyone that has decent usefulness at lower, prepromo levels, like Shin, Fir, Gonzo, Ellen, Saul, Lalum, etc.

Yes but it is much more difficult to achieve a higher rank due to the fact that many of your units starts out very underleveled and that some joins very very late. But getting a rank for EXP gaining is easiest of the other catergories.
