That's actually not true. They both revolve around some sort of sport. Therefore, the concept is the same, but the actual subject differs quite a bit. |

The thing about sports anime is that while it gives an unusual amount of attention of the sport in question, the most interesting thing part of the show are the players themselves. Seriously, what's Slam Dunk without Sakuragi, Rukawa and Takenori Akagi? Prince of Tennis without Echizen, Inui and Tezuka? I'd go on, but that's all I've seen. Basically, Akagi kicks ass because of Akagi himself. I tried to learn the basic rules of Mahjong just to comprehend how godly he actually is. =O |
