So my Comp. has been...slow for a while, like starting up and opening the net page once my comp is turned on and opening things like Word and Windows Media Player.

How can I make my Comp. run faster and more smoothly. (Other than buying a new one 'cuase thats out of the question fo quite a while)
(If this is not allowed I'm sorry O_O)

If you have programs or other things you don't use, delete them. Also try a Disk Cleanup. It moves things around so your computer goes faster.

Before I can answer this, can you post some specs up? If you don't know them I can tell you how to find them.

Assuming your on Windows...

Go to start, then right click my computer and go to properties. It might just be easier to take a screenshot of the screen that appears next if you want me to see it better.

That should be all I need to at least examine a problem. :Psyduck:

o_o

In case you are wondering that's really bad. I'm guessing your computer is at least 7 or 8 years old? :Psyduck:

Well, the first thing one can do to improve performace is to do a fresh install of Windows. This basically means deleting every single file on the computer, including Windows, and starting from scratch. This can help increase computer speed by a lot, I've done it several times on various computers. Be aware that if you have important files on your computer (pictures, music, documents, etc) you should back them up before doing a reinstall.

Sorry, but that is all I can really offer for your situation. You're not going to get much more life out of that computer anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if it just died on you soon. :Psyduck: :(

Yes it is pretty old. Not super old like the text start up and stuff.

We got it before the Dell dude disapeared. I think that should give you an Idea of how old it is.

:(

Looks like I'll just end up getting a newer one then. <<

What would be a good computer that's budget friendly, Since if I plan on getting a new one I'de have to buy it myself ( :( )

Good computer that's budget friendly? A lot of people have different ideas of what is budget friendly so you would probably want to specify a price range first. I'll try to help as much as I can.

Um. Less than 1 grand for sure.
Below 900-800 would be awsome. I will be getting a different car too so I'll be a bit tied up.

Emachine. Don't know much about it, but that's what I'm getting for a small 370$ at the end of the month. Compared to 899 HP computers, and shit.

:hmm:

Well to start make sure you get at least 1 GB of RAM, thats basically standard nowadays. Also, if your buying from a manufacter such as Dell or HP, only get a PC that has Vista Home Premium or higher. I don't even know if those companies sell computers with Home Basic on it, but it's feature list is so small it's ridiculous. All computers ship with Windows Vista now, wether you like it or not.

If your interested in buying a Mac, the cheapest laptop is the MacBook. I'm typing on one right now and I would reccomend it to anybody. Desktop-wise, the Mac Mini or 17-inch iMac would probably be good for you.

Just a little bit of info. I could probably help more if I knew what kind of user you were. :feez:
