How do I make my computer faster?

Meh, if you want to play games with it, you probably want to build your own PC. Especially if you are on a budget.

If you don't really play anything that needs good specs, then just do what Bosco said. A decent, but not good, computer will cost about 400-500 dollars regardless.

$400-$500 = crap computer. It's the minimal range. Building your own computer also isn't THAT cheap either, and it's not a super duper easy job if you don't know what your doing.

$400-500 is enough to buy an adequate computer for most people's needs. The PC I'm on cost $300, pre-built, I bought a videocard for about $100, and I got more RAM for about $60. It has no problem running all of the applications I use, like CSS and Eclipse.

And building your own computer is a lot cheaper than a pre-built one. You just can't argue against that. ._.

That's what I was thinking. Or I could just stick with the default shit. I really don't care eitherway. It took me a long time to pirate XP, so it must not be the easiest to get your hands on Vista for free. =/

Well to start make sure you get at least 1 GB of RAM, thats basically standard nowadays. Also, if your buying from a manufacter such as Dell or HP, only get a PC that has Vista Home Premium or higher. I don't even know if those companies sell computers with Home Basic on it, but it's feature list is so small it's ridiculous. All computers ship with Windows Vista now, wether you like it or not.

If your interested in buying a Mac, the cheapest laptop is the MacBook. I'm typing on one right now and I would reccomend it to anybody. Desktop-wise, the Mac Mini or 17-inch iMac would probably be good for you.

Just a little bit of info. I could probably help more if I knew what kind of user you were. :feez:

Well I don't play games on the PC. I MIGHT pickup WoW just so I can check it out and play with my cousin, and I heard WoW doesn't require much so thats pretty much a bonus for me, haha.
I'll probably start Photo editing again if I get Photoshop or something else ( I lost a lot of stuff when my Comp crashed)
Lets see...I'll probably be using for
-Photo editing (Probably the thing I'll be doing most other than Browsing the net)
-music (I don't need much, WMP is fine by me)
-Word is pretty much neccisary...
- Movies(maybe)

I'll be sure to look for something with 1G+ of RAM and lots of memory. I'm not much of a PC gamer, and if I decided to pickup gaming then I'd probably pick up Radion or whatever that other one was (For WoW)

And I'll basicly get the Premium XD

Yea some standard PC with 1 GB of RAM should be plenty for you. It doesnt hurt to have a Hard Drive over 100 GB as well.
