Probably won't get much (if any) replies without Jaffar around, but hey.

New RoTK out, and me likes it better than the last two games I've played. It's back to Sovereign-only gameplay, and a with a new 3d engine and a revamped city management system, it beats the hell out of RTKIX. It's a lot less boring than X too, srsly.

I'm currently in the Battle of Guan Du scenario, leading a force in the south composed of my custom and bonus officers. Huang Mao (My custom sovereign) had recruited Zhao Yun early, and is pretty close to destroying Liu Biao's last stronghold. I sure hope my alliance with Sun Ce holds, so I can just expand to the west and face off Cao Cao at the north with relative ease.

It's a blast.

EDIT: As of now, I managed to crush Liu Biao, and I'm well on my way to taking over my enemies in the west. Lord Cao seems to be close to rout in my game, being pressured by both Yuan Shao up north and a very powerful Sun Ce by the east. Ma Teng is pathetic, so I'm hoping that I could rush in and seize his lands before Cao Cao does.

They're strategy games that aren't as stylized or as exaggerated as DW, but yeah RoTK games are pretty good.

I prefer Samurai Warriors, myself.

PS2. Dunno why Koei doesn't want to translate PC version. :(

EDIT: Okay, game progress because I feel like it.

Okay, I managed to take over Cheng Du in west. I excuted Liu Zhang earlier on, and now that I had Liu Xun (the successor), I executed him too. And lah dee dah, Liu Bei himself decided to take over the force. I then drove him out of the city he held in the north, so he fled all the way to his southwestern cities (poison marshes and all). There way no way I was gonna bother finishing him off myself, so I let the AI get rid him. But distance between Cheng Du and Liu Bei's cities is goddamn far, and the AI doesn't know how to ration food properly. It's going to be a long battle. D:

I then focused on Ma Teng, and took him down with relative ease. By now I had to break my alliance with Sun Ce, since he was the only other force in my borders. He's also the only major power left, having eliminated Cao Cao and taking out Yuan Tan (Yuan Shao died) bit by bit. You can only imagine what is happening right now: Total War.

Thank god for districts and AI-controlled cities, the micromanagement would have been insane otherwise. D:

.

I've played DW and SW...never tried any of these games. I'll look into it.

I heard Koei is also making a game based off of the Hundred Years War. Medieval hack-n-slash. :o

That game looked tight.
I agree that SW is much better. While each new game of SW (I'm aware theres only been three) they bring new things into the game. DW just brings in a few new characters and less and less story.

Omega Force is the developer of those beat-em'-up games, and they work for Koei. ._.

Just saying.

EDIT: I *finally* managed to capture Liu Bei's last city. Even got to employ most of the officers in his force, but that slippery Guan Yu got away. D:

It's been a huge tug-o-war with Sun Ce as of now, with cities in the borders constantly taken and retaken by both sides. I managed to secure an alliance with Yuan Tan, but I dunno how long he'll last anyway.

Last time I saved, I had recently captured Luo Yang. Sun Ce has been sending wave after wave of soldiers to retake it, and I have very little resources to counter his assaults. I'm forced send supplies from Chang An just to keep my new city afloat, but attrition won't stop me from losing city HP.

I have to concentrate on them siege weapons, but he has a lot of them...

Perservierance (sp?) and heart for battle will overcome even the largest numbers of siege weapons...

Well, I managed to push Sun Ce back and take over whatever cities he used to rape me. A few in-game years later, he died D: and his daugther took over his armies. They haven't been quite as aggressive ever since.

I also got hold of the Emperor... and deposed him from the throne. Posted Image It didn't take long before the people proclaimed me as the new emperor of the land. Woohoo.

Now, I just have to clean up the rest of Sun Shi's forces, and destroy my former ally Yuan Tan.

It's all good. Posted Image
