Because so many people call her Miredy. Because it is also a valid transliteration. =[ |

If you've ever read "King Lear", you know Kent's loyalty is offset by his honesty. They only tend to show one aspect of a character in Fire Emblem, but I'm sure Kent's honesty would get him thrown in the stocks once or twice in Fire Emblem. |

While it may be a valid translation, R=L in japanese, and since Katakana (which it is written in) is used for adapted Foreign words, using it as an L seems to be more valid IMO. Miredy sounds like Engrish, while Miledy would be liked to "Mi lady" or something to that nature. Also, EFED's english patch refers to her as Miledy

Not all R's in Japanese are translated to L's. Some of them are... R's. My teacher's name has a "r" katakana which is supposed to stand for an "r." Plus, since she has no official English name (unless you count the "Milady" on her art), it's not like one's more right than the other. And after looking around, some Japanese names are also written in katakana for games, stories, and the like. |

I didn't say all 'R's in katakana are translated as 'L'. I ment to bring up it being in katakana to show that it isn't a traditional japanese name, and most likely a japanization of "Mi lady". I didn't know her offical art had it as "Milady", but that supports my argement all the more. Just a note, some names we would consider japanese, probably have their roots from somewhere like China, hence, the Katakana. |
