if the decision was up to animal, they wooldve eaten the thing at birth(like most already do)

Humans aren't animals, we're much better. The fact we can even put value on life is argument against why we should have abortions just because there are so many people.

humans technically ARE animals

just really smart

im saying, if it woold do good for those of us already alive, why not?

Last time I checked, using humans for free labor like animals was frowned upon way back in the 1800s when slavery was abolished. Humans are not animals, we do not treat eachother as animals but rather as humans.

If you can have the child, you should have the child. If people never had children, as they have no benefit to existing humans, than the human race would never continue.

He was giving an example of what could happen - strike that, what *did* happen - back when people treated some people as animals.

Animals with the ability to reason. Animals with the ability to show sympathy and empathy, not just apathy.

Yes, we're animals. But we're not beasts, like the ones you describe.

I think he was trying to say that you shouldn't go out and spread your seed like a farmer if you can't keep up the crop. Ergo, don't have sex if you can't afford the child.

And there would be a balance, if people used a bit of common sense. If you're living paycheck-to-paycheck or barely better than that, you really don't have any business having a kid.

1) lol slavery. We use animals for free labor as test subjects and once as the providers of manual labor. Ever wonder why machines use the term horse power? Animals are exploited for what they can do, humans are not.

2) We are NOT animals, we are humans. We are capable of rational thought and think of complex subjects such as love and theology while dogs and other animals think "Eat!" "Sleep!" "Crap!". The fact we can even debate if we are above animals is proof that we are above animals.

3) Because it's part of the cycle of reproduction, if people never reproduce (since vomiting for five months, the extreme pain of childbirth, and the sleepless nights from having a child aren't pleasant) then we will die out.

4) A balance? Check this PDF. It seems like most families have two or less children, and same sex couples don't reproduce. We seem to be fine. :richie:

Heck, if couples are only having one child the population's decreasing. The average amount of children per household, IIRC, is below two; therefore, we're not maintaining a stagnant population, it's dropping, and if it keeps up the magnitude of the drop will make it to where abortion isn't even a necessity as a population control.

which in fact happens to be our weakness

i think so too

but it happens

are suggetsing there shoold be some sort of penalty to those that do happen to get pregnant?

but that was because we chose to do that

it doesnt 'define' an animal.

humans havent been around forever. when they werent her,e no one 'enslaved' them. doesnt mean they werent animals

we're animals, point blank there no argument

or so says you

its just scientific fact that we are

or at least, science considers us so

And if we over populate, we will die out. or at least suffer great casualties which is a hell of a lot worse than abortions

so what's ur point?

im sorry, im not going to read it. i dont feel like it

but anyways

just because every family has 2 or less kids doesnt mean we're "fine". that in itself coold still b a lot

maybe not too much, and maybe not yet, but at the rate people are goin at it, i really dont know

The world only seems overpopulated because you people are living in densely populated areas.

Only the most desirable areas are overpopulated.

There is an enormous amount of booniespace in the U.S., let alone Canada, Mexico and Europe.

Abortion should never, ever, ever be used as a form of population control. By doing that, we are telling ourselves that exterminating others for the convenience of ourselves is acceptable.

And even if you pass laws to dictate the amount of children people are allowed to have, you won't be able to do a damn thing to enforce it. This is true in China, where the government can only enforce the law through enacted brutality on those who break it. If we reduce ourselves to that level, God have mercy on us all, because it won't stop there.

We are animals. This is indubitable fact. But we are animals unlike anything else in the known Universe. We have a great fault in our emotions, but this is also undoubtedly what makes us so powerful as well. If we did not have the ability to empathize, sympathize, and relate to one another, I doubt we would have survived as long as we have.

If we acted on pragmatism alone, we wouldn't be human. We'd be robots. :tom:

what about the conservation of ourselves?

and they arent technically 'others' just yet. as far as i kno, there is no line where ur considered alive and when ur considered not. at certain stages i guess anyways

but like i said

if u JUTS got pregant last week, ur baby isnt really.. an 'other' just yet

Needs moar Sety

the single best reason for anyone to ever have an abortion is because it would cost less to have an abortion then to raise the baby. Like I've said on a different board, I would much rather die before I was born then starve to death alongside my mother because she couldn't afford to feed me.

I said known universe, not entire Universe. It's a big place, so something else may be out there.

The population of the world hasn't hurt me yet. Some places are overpopulated, aye, but not the world itself. It's just that some parts are where everyone wants to live. That obviously can't be the case.

What are instincts? Compulsions to do something just because. Essentially, a robot is nothing but instincts.
