Nintendo is going to make alot more money by appealing to non-gamers though. They're leaving behind the hardcore gamers, yes, but it's a smart business move.

Your pal,
Morgan Freeman

Common sense dictates that its a good move. However, a huge portion of sales came from the more serious gamers, and I think that's a number that's gonig to start dropping.

This is a stupid move.
Theyre going to lose the fans they’ve been thriving on if they take this path.

Zidane was always entitled to 12 MOV!

This thread is painful to read.
I don't know if it's the idiocy of the topic being discussed, or the "personalities" discussing it.
Either way, I'm in pain.

This is a tragic thing for Miyamoto-san to say.

I only hope his jibba' jabba' is from temporary 'sucka' syndrome.'

I find it funny how people expect a company that boasts a fat little italian plumber duo, a retarded dinosaur, a giant ape with a tie, a kid who gets followed around by fairies, and talking animals to be a gaming company abandoning their "hardcore" gamer base.

Investing in Nintendo and expecting hardcore games is like going to Hooters and expecting the wings to be top notch: nobody goes to fucking Hooters for the wings. I can't think of any game that could be considered hardcore for the Wii except possibly Smash Brothers because the rest are all whimsical and wacky rather than meant for some heavy duty gaming. If I wanted to make sure I'd be able to play the hardcore stuff I would've invested in the Xbox 360 and gotten into Gears of War, Halo 3, back into Phantom Dust, etc.

After looking thoroughly through this matter I have come up with a conclusion. While gaming itself can vary between casual and hardcore, each category must also vary. Whether it be Halo and CoD4 for our brothers, or Monster Hunter for those of Eastern decent. However, gaming itself must have a variety, which Nintendo plays a major role. Without Nintendo filling the gap that separates the the white from the black, we end up creating a singular system for each type of gaming.

In essence, without quality titles from Nintendo, we get no variety. We will then end up with preferences that separate us further, creating unrest between my brothers and society.

Without quality, life is bland.

"At GDC 2007, Eiji Aonuma gave a presentation on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. At that time, he showed a brief snippet of an experimentation the Zelda team conducted -- it was Twilight Princess running in the first-person view. We asked Miyamoto if such a fundamental change could await players of Wii's next Zelda adventure.

"I don't necessarily think it will change that drastically, but I think that Zelda is a franchise that does need some big new unique ideas," he said. "And so the team right now is very focused on trying to find those ideas."

I've been playing LoZ games most of my life, I started with LoZ DX. It took me almost a year to beat that game and I played it non-stop. OoT/MM was no different. I picked up WW and beat it in like a week. I finished TP in a week (But I have to admit, I played that excesively) The only thing TP needed was harder difficulty, if only the bosses, and it would be a 9.8/10 game. Nintendo made an improvement with TP but they would drop the ball to make it easier.

One serious d00d

Mostly agree'd with Reaver. But even more than that, whoever suggested multiple difficulty levels. What's truly ridiculous isn't that Nintendo's making games easier or harder, it's that they're not going to just make everyone happy with multiple difficulties.
Reikken: I'm halfway through reading it, but it's so bad; I can't finish.

---

Inui: You say Ilia holds more weight, but I don't, since Shin >>> Pegs and Sacae is more fun due to enemies that aren't fail and not having to move through forests all day.

---

SACAE. It's more fun than Ilia.

Multiple difficulties would require programming in additional puzzles and possibly new enemies or making the enemies smarter/stronger. That's a lot of extra effort to put into a game.
