cool story bro

Actually I found the match myself one day when I was bored. I have no idea who the player was, but it was a TvP match.

There is a light that never goes out...

TvZ is considered the most exciting matchup to watch, since it requires the most micro in the game, on both sides. Recently as builds have evolved, and more and more people are going with Fast Expansion builds, games either become really boring all game (Flash), someone gets cheesed (exciting/lol), or eventually they turn into a really exciting all out war with lots of explosions.

:hmm:

Do you think my idea of completing the campaign first is a good way to get better? I head that all the campaigns are easy, but I'm playing Terran.

Since you are new with the interface, I'd say the campaign is something you should play. The campaign won't really teach you build orders and things like that, it will just give you a foundation of how the game plays, and what different units do.

Sorry but can you rephrase that just abit, as it went over my head somewhat.

I'm not saying an FPS game can defeat SC in Strategy/Tactics but they're by no means behind. NS is kinda like or dislike game and isn't amazingly popular yes but, its still a brilliant game. I know one of the Game Devs, I've known him for years now on a forum from when I used to always play CS/DoD/NS online. Joev, and Puzl too actually. Fun guys.

In this mode, one member of the marine team must enter the "command chair" to lead the team. From here, he can purchase upgrades, issue movement orders and drop supplies - all from an overhead perspective, as in many RTS games. The commander can also place buildings, although these are inactive until built by players in the field. The role is somewhat similar to the Intelligence Officer of Global Operations in that it is provided an overview of the map, though the ability to place objects and control is much more extensive.

NS actually is a pretty damn good combination of RTS/FPS gameplay and is one of the best games I've played of the two genres.

Going back to the argument, I'm surprised that nobody here has mentioned the FPS Team Fortress 2. In TF2, there are several classes to choose from, all of which have clearly defined roles and weapons only they can use. This adds a nice layer of complexity and team strategy to an already complex genre.

These are different things that must be done within a battle, in Starcraft. Tactics refers to things you are doing actively to make your strategy work.

I'm sure you know what flanking is. Attacking from someone's vulnerable direction.

Surrounding your enemy, preventing excape and limiting their mobility. Think Zerglings vs Dragoons.

Focus firing is having your units all target a single target, for the purpose of taking it out before its a threat. The AI considers spellcasters low priority, so attack moving into your enemy won't kill their High Templar for example, which can cast Psi Storm and decimate your army. So you would want to snipe them before they can do damage, or at least minimize it.

Using your spells efficently refers to things like Storm, Dark Swarm, EMP, etc. Your spell castors don't use their spells automatically, and maybe only have like 1 or 2 spells per unit. So using those spells to their upmost is important, as you wouldn't want to waste a Psi Storm and kill no units.

This is all things that must be done within a single battle, thus my claim that tactics in RTS is above tactics in all FPS games I've played. Mainly because of the multitasking required. These would all be split up among your teammates in a game like Counter Strike. And even in Natural Selection, these things would be left up to the individual, rather than the commander.

NS is a good game. I think if I played with people more around my level, I would have played more of the game. And in terms of FPS games, it certainly has more tactics involved in it that most other FPS games.

Yeah, pretty much BF2/NS/DoD had the class system as well with unique roles/weapons, etc.

Sent, I knew what the terms meant. I was wondering about the:
