I didn't play FFIV until the DS version. @ everyone: Am I the only one who thinks Tactics was severely overrated? Horrible camera, slow battle system, waaay too complex battle system, too much micromanagement, and a bad tutorial to bring it all together?

I haven't played it, but if the gameplay is anything at all like the FFTA games (aside from the laws, I think), then I certainly can't imagine it being very impressive. FFTA and FFTA2 bored me out of my mind, and they would have done so without the laws, too... |

It's a more complex and longer version of FFTA's. Boring, though. |

Well, I was talking mostly about the battle system. Dreadfully boring stuff. The customization (equipping your d00ds and having them learn abilities, etc.) was pretty fun the first 2 or 3 times, but then it got very stale, as well. Especially with abilities like Double Sword.

I loved Tactics for its storyline. The Battle System resembles almost 90% of other tactics games, so if you found it boring then well that's your fault. Also, lol @ FFXII being top tier. I will agree for only the first 30 hours-ish of the game. Why? Because after the Leviathan, the original storyboard director got sick and had to leave, leaving some faggot in charge. That's why the story feel to pieces after that, and it got kinda shitty. Also, for the spoiler rule, you could AT LEAST put some warning. I mean, Ayanami spoils everyone. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR SPOILING ME IN PERSONA 3 FES, AYANAMI. But that's besides the point. People who get into the series late shouldn't have to be spoiled just because the original game is old; i mean if that was the case we'd have to put SUPER SPOILER tags on games like FFIII which was never released in US until a couple of years ago; it's that kind of situation. Now, I don't know if a lot of the older Final Fantasies were even released in Europe (confirmation?), because if that's the case then the remake principle that HJ stated makes sense. My suggestion is that in addition to the month rule, any EXTREME SPOILERS such as Ayanami blatantly listing off everything Kefka did or how Rinoa = Ultimicia in mini-text. Because let's face it; those are big spoilers. I only say this because Ayanami's spoiled me in so many games, new and old and I am also sick of it. People should not be condemned just because they never played it for reasons such as they never heard of it or was able to get their hands on it. Edit: Kovu, you should put FFTA2 in shit tier

FFTA and FFTA2's battles proceed far slower than most tactics games I've played. I'm aware it's the same formula and system, but I honestly do not want a very, very simple battle that requires no strategy whatsoever and has no plot twists or anything to take 20 minutes because the game is so damn slow-paced. So I'm asking if FFT is similar, or if the battles are a bit more interesting, dynamic, fast-paced, varied or something like that. I just don't want to fight the same battle 200 times in a row like I did in FFTA/FFTA2. Now, what do I mean by the same battle? Well, sure, the enemies looked different in each battle, but in FFTA and FFTA2 it didn't matter what kind of enemy I was fighting, the only thing to do was get in it's face and kill it. There's not much tactics about that, and I certainly don't think it's my ''fault'' for disapproving of a thing like that. If they want me to like it, they shouldn't make it suck. So, is FFT like that or is it not? And since I'm already making inquiries about the game, is the storyline a contender for Worst Story Ever like FFTA2's story? |

Sent, how would you like someone to go ahead and ruin every anime your going to watch just because they've seen what happens in the manga a month before that and you don't read the manga? With the way your enforcing that rule on remakes etc, I'm quite sure it's applicable to anime/manga. And considerign Manga is usually a few months ahead, they can mention any plottwist coming up in the anime and ruin it for you. Spoilers should be a serious problem. They ruin the enjoyment of games, anime and books for people. My problem with Ayanami is, he constantly spoils things in his posts AND doesn't even use a warning in his posts like: Warning: Spoilers Below. AND your whole month rule is completely retarded. Why? Release dates. Someone could easily play a japanese port of a game, understand it fine and ruin the game for you over in America because the game was out a month already in japan. What about the European members? We usually dont get games for a few months till after NA due to annoying localization stuff, etc. Your rule is broken and needs to be looked at properly. On topic though: Kovu, why is Dirge of Cerberus even in mid tier. Thats the shooter game with Vincent as the character. WHERE THE FUCK IS CRISIS CORE YOU DAMN FURRY. Zack demands it. |

The idea of my tier list being the one that is generally accepted is slightly less likely than any other given nonfur opinion. But yeah, there's a reason I haven't listed FFTA2. I'm too scared to play it. >> I mean the cover is fucking black. If the game is half as bland as the case cover it's a waste of my time. I'll probably play it anyway, simply becuase there's an "FF" tagged onto the title. Did so with Mystic Quest and suffered through that. It wouldn't be a bad idea to compile a generally accepted (among FEFFers) tier list that (though it won't make everyone happy completely) is pretty decent among most. Something tells me though that the five top tier games will be FFIV, VI, VII, X and Tactics. From what I'm hearing. Which I can live with. I also forgot to note Crisis Core, but that's because I played that earlier this year and that list is from mid last year. I'd probably put it somewhere mid tier but I'll look at that list (and make updates, for example with the new FFIV release I'd probably [in my view of course] bump it to low high-tier from high low-tier). ~ Kovu |

FFVII > FFVI > FFIV > FFV > FFVIII > FFIX > all others My top 3 have epic stories, characters, designs and music in my opinion. The others have some of things but not all. And those not mentioned have either earned my unending wrath or I've not played them to completion. It's also highly likely that I don't care about them at all. |

The overrated FFs or popular ones are: FFVII, FFVI, FFIV and maybe FFX. Not sure on the last one since I only know one person in real life in europe that likes it alot. The 3 that alway come up with support or hate against them in EVERY FF debate topic are VII, IV and VI. |

That's because the European version of FFX had the Dark Aeons, was made harder, was squished, slowed, is totally inferior to the US and JP versions and should therefore die in a ditch. Also for the fact that it only had one good playable character (Auron) and the story for the end of the game was highly retarded. FFVII, VI and IV consistently top lists because they're better than the other games.

Wait, the PAL version is worse? How so? It has a lot of cool extra stuff that the other versions don't have. Also, all the characters are highly useable, I have no idea what you're saying. And... here comes the bomb... I like FFX's story. In fact, I find it easily superior to, say, FFIV's story. It's probably one of my favorite video game stories of all time. |

VII > CC > DoC. However, Cloud can go die in a ditch. This series is all about Zack. >> ~ Kovu Edited: Well, I suppose I like Cloud more than Vincent. DAMN they sure chose the crappy characters to make games around. Stop with the Cloud, Vincent Sephiroth stuff and make moar Cid, Barret, Red XIII games
