((Hm, well, I must've mistaken the dashes between the two segments for marking your signature or something. Either way I only read as far as the first part of your above post, before. Oh well.)) "A beorc city? Near my home? I wasn't aware they were so close. I was more-or-less sheltered by my father, kept away from most outside interaction." Vaull seemed moderately intrigued, despite his overall depressed disposition. "Do you happen to have a map of the area readily available? I'm afraid the map that I was provided with by the ones who saw to my health marked the other direction-- toward Kelvendar and the mountains I had to pass through." ~ Kovu |

Uriel's Galdrar was cut short, when a protectile whizzed past his head. He began to panic and start randonly casting water magic every where. Alot of it would happen to just land on the unfortunate priest. "I must flee... its here... He paniced even more, while speaking in his strange tongue as he flew over the priest towards the castle. |

((Oh, sorry about that. D= )) "Well, er... Close being relative." He walked over to a bunch of rolled up peices of parchment and selected one after looking through them. Hasan returned to the table and laid out a map of Alexiera. He pointed to the general location of the Moon Wood. "This is the Moon Wood... And here..." He traced his finger along the map to the west. "Is Kalics. It's a port city. I don't really know how far you can travel a day on foot through forested lands but... But if I had a guess, it would be a day or two journey in ideal conditions." ************************* The hillbilly priest blinked as Uriel... wet himself so to speak. An unusual way to panic, but the priest threw himself against the wall of the church to avoid getting drenched. "That's right you vermin! Fly away else I'll cook yeh for dinner!" He shook his fist at the heron laguz as he flew away. Meanwhile at the castle, the few soldiers sat huddled around the comfort of the fire, looking out over the city and the walls. Sargon sat there shivering along next to him. Why was he stuck here in this horribly cold place? Though at least it was better than someplace dangerous, but now rather than some enemy set on killing him, it was the cold that was going to kill him... Or so he believed. "Oie..." One of the guards nudged one of his peers and nodded to beyond the wall. The other guard looked for a while for what he was looking at and lifted a brow. The sergent slowly stood up and squinted at the approching heron laguz. "... Too big to be any animal. Might be a laguz." He commented. He nodded to the other guards and wistled down the ramparts to the other guards. "We have a flyer." "Get up, Sargon. We have work to do." The sergent of the guard ordered while the other soldiers knocked their bows and awaited orders. The mage sighed and stood up reluctantly, shrugging off the winter blanket around his shoulders. |

"Hhhmn" Vaull thought to himself Gandalf-style, nodding to Hassan's words. “It would depend where you enter and leave the wood, I guess.” He paused. “Well, obviously. I mean some areas of the wood are wider than others… Here.” Vaull pointed to an area of the wood that was relatively close to the western border. He traced his finger (err, paw?) along the map, “This was our sphere of influence within the wood. As far as I know there was no interaction with outsiders.” Vaull would continue to point, though his overall indication was that he knew nothing of the outside. “This is the direction I fled. And this is the where the cats had found me. This is their encampment. And these villages I know of.” Vaull explained that the cats had found him unconscious on the opposite side of the wood, and in his time with them he was told of multiple villages to the east that the cats often traded and interacted with. Though Vaull avoided the beorc realm he was aware of that area’s general layout. Odd, he knew that area better than he knew his own home it seems. Vaull continued to look over the map. He seemed amazed at its size, the land surrounding his wood, the land beyond. He was, though, critical of the lack of detail within the wood’s bounds, and the map didn’t seem completely accurate to how he remembered it. “Getting through the wood will not be a problem. I’m well traveled there. However, if we were to seek assistance for the area outside the wood.. I.. uhh, know of someone who might be.. of assistance.” He paused (again). “What do you say? You‘ve shown me your home, I think it‘s only fair I show you mine.” -- The sun had set and the majority of the feline encampment had gone to sleep. One among few, however, was still awake. She scurried to near the top of the tree she was aloft in. Sniffing the air that stretched over the horizon, she thought to herself. Hm. It‘s going to rain. ~ Kovu |

Hasan really didn't go out often. Or rather, he didn't do it at all. He could only imagine what kind of beasts were out there, ready to eat him up or attack him. The young prince swallowed the lump of dread in his throat. "... Well, if you would like me to visit your home, I would be happy to." The prince was confused about why the laguz invited him. Hasan wasn't a tracker like Lord Audret or outdoorsy kind of... person. |

Vaull was happy. Ecstatic that he's finally getting someone from the source depicted to him by his father to come to his home. However, he continued in his usual calm posture. "Ah. I am glad. I would show you the way, but it seems your maps know the trails better than I do." Vaull, in his thoughts, had totally forgotten about Nienna. When she spoke up it startled him. "Oh, right. Yes, definitely. I encourage it. The more we have along the greater the chance of finding something." He turned back to Hasan, putting a semi-serious expression on his face. "I warn you though, not everyone in the wood likes beorc, or outsiders in general. They may attack us purely on spite, or the more feral, on instinct. You can't really blame them, they've been harassed and tormented by the surrounding tribes for ages." He paused. "The companions I traveled with upon arriving in this land were all quite talented in their own ways, and because of this we were able to overcome several difficult situations few alone would've been able to. Not disregarding your own skills, is there anyone else with these talents that can tag along, you know, for precaution?" Vaull was being completely selfish here, he was completely oblivious to Nienna's plight and Hasan's importance to his own land. He wasn't doing it on purpose mind you, he seemed completely oblivous. ~ Kovu |

Vaull spawned a world of worries for Hasan. He now could just imagine the vicious laguz laying in wait for unsuspecting Hasan to stumble along and fall prey to their vengence and claws. "Pardon me, Vaull, but what is it that we are looking for?" Hasan asked. If it was for evidence. It would be almost two decades since the incident happened, any helpful evidence would probably be long gone aside from what people saw and most of those people were dead already. "I am a prince. I can get most anyone from the army to act as my guard. I'm sure I can find someone that skilled." It looked as though Hasan was relieved that Nienna was coming. It was comforting that they would have |

Uriel's pace quickened in his panic and he climbed up higher as if to seek some hidden refuge. "Its here.... its here.. its here" He kept saying the same phrase over and over in that melodic language that he spoke as he reaced a high spire, which would be most likely opposite a window connected to Hassan's study. |

Nienna jogged over to the window to get a closer look. "A large white bird? A....a heron!?! But it looks...a little different?" she continued to watch it. |

"It has been a couple decades. However, remnants of my home may still be in tact. I would be.. lieing if I didn't have the desire to see my home once more. However, these maps are of limited help. I would need to be home to be able to give you a detailed description of where the enemy came fr--" Vaull paused at Nienna's words. "Large white.. bird?" ~ Kovu |

Hasan was about to state his objections but apparently the both of them were distracted by the sudden arrival of the heron laguz. He tires to peek past Nienna's large wings to see. "What would a heron be doing in a place like this?" ------- "Odd." The sergeant stated as he watched the bird. Herons didn't like cities... or standing on towers. It was highly unusual for an animal. The sergeant might have dismissed if it had passed by or landed in the courtyard or moat. "What?" The other soldier asked. "Heron don't approach cities, they stay in the marshes and grasslands. They also don't stand on buildings. Odd behavior for a bird like that." "You think it's a laguz? What should we do about it?" "If it is a heron laguz, it's up to no good or was too stupid to know not to trespass on royal grounds. If it's just a normal heron, then the world can endure the loss of one heron. Just kill it. If it's smart enough, it'll flee." The sergeant ordered. The soldiers drew back their knocked arrows and let fly a volley on Uriel. Edited by Blank, Jan 5 2009, 04:54 AM.

Vaull lept up at Nienna's words and approached the window, only to confirm for himself the presence of a heron "Uhm, it would appear that it is under attack." Vaull then found himself leaning on Nienna for half-a-second. "Whoo. Stood up too fast," he stated, favoring his back. ~ Kovu |

Hasan jumped as she asked him to open the window. He hurried over and undid the lock and stood back, confused at what she was trying to do. The window was rather small for either to get through. He moved to help Vaull keep his balance. ((...)) Edited by Blank, Jan 10 2009, 04:10 AM.
