I'm sure there are a few music junkies around here besides me, right? Here is where you can suggest a band or an artist for others to (hopefully) listen to and see if they like them.

I'm pretty open with what I listen to, but I don't like stuff with a lot of screaming, so warn me beforehand so I don't set my volume too loud.

So here's my recommendation for the whenever: Depeche Mode. Their first album is... very '80s.The first album is kind of one big case of Synthesizeritis (not that i don't love it for the kitsch value). They aren't really in their element yet until the mid-80s. They had some pretty nice stuff in the 80s, though; I particularly liked "People Are People", "Love In Itself", "Flexible" and "Stripped", which got a Rammstein cover. But I really love their more recent work. "Suffer Well", "Enjoy the Silence", "Precious" and "Martyr" are infectiously groovy, and "Breathe" was the first time I'd heard Martin Gore sing lead. As much as I love the baritone coolness of Dave Gahan, it made me wonder why they didn't let him do that more often. Nowadays they feel kind of arty-farty, but I think that just makes them appeal more to arty-farty types like me. :Psyduck:

Serenity: They're metal, but not screamy metal. I think they come under melodic or something like that. :NomNomNom: Anyway, the lyrics are in English but the band itself is German (I think; definitely European). If you can get the album, I highly recommend it - after a few listens it's become my favourite. I'd recommend searching them on Youtube first though. The album is Fallen Sanctuary and I'm 99% certain it's their only one atm.

My favourite songs are "Oceans of Ruby", "To Stone She Turned", "The Heartblood Symphony" and "Velatum".

Sevendust: Depending on the song you listen to, they can be more metal or . . . not. One of my favourite bands atm. I own the albm"Alpha" and a few other songs. Much heavier than Serenity, but still enjoyable.

Reccomended songs: "Enemy", "Clueless" and "Under".

Eels: Nick got me started on these. Definitely NOT metal, but they only have a few cheerful songs to I wouldn't recommend listening to them after a bad day. >>; Again, I'd suggest Youtube, because listening can give you a much better description than me.

Reccomended songs: "Cancer For The Cure", "Susan's House", "Mr. E's Beautiful Blues", "Beautiful Freak", "Love of the Loveless", "Hospital Food". Or ask Nick, but those are my favourites.

Yeah, I like music but I'm no expert on it. I can't really give very good descriptions, but I'd recommend Serenity and Eels at least. >>;

Iron Maiden: Only one of the most legendary and influential heavy metal bands to ever exist. Active since 1979, Iron Maiden is one of the few "pure metal" acts that still exists today. Their musical themes vary immensely and the songs are often lyrically concerned with sagas, epics, literature, horror, crime and punishment, and war.

Muse: If you want variety then you want Muse. I can't really classify their music well, so I'll just list it under the umbrella term of progressive rock. The first album, Absolution, could be classified as a concept album, I guess, since it is said to follow the perspectives of different people in the midst of the apocalypse. The lyrics are some pretty heavy stuff once you've gotten to the heart of their message, and the music is both intense and soft. Songs from their more recent albums range from techno sounding dance songs to highly experimental and ethereal tunes. Their themes are almost always hinged on philosophy, religion, science, astronomy, the human condition, etc. Thought provoking stuff and good music at that.

Recently, though, the good name of Muse has been tainted by one criminal author by the name of Stephanie Meyer with repeated mentions in her bloated novella.

I might think of moar.

The video was lulz and I'd listen to the song if somebody put it on, but it's not the sort of thing I really enjoy listening to.
