RPG Final Battle

There is a light that never goes out...

Lots of talk is going on in the staff forum concerning the next step for the RPG. Before we do that, however, we want to try to "finish" this RPG. Or at least, wrap the storyline up, before we jump into whatever we decide for the next incarnation. Which would probably be something like generation 2, but we are going to try some other new things to revive interest and stuff in it. More on that when we have anything decided.

We have been talking about having various important members/units in the RPG finally having a showdown with the chief bad guys in the plot. I heard someone say like, 3 members per guild, possibly leveled to 20/20, and they take on like Loputousu or something.

So really, we need a map, and characters (possibly?) leveled to 20/20, and a few enemies to fight. I don't think this battle will be ridiculous like many of the past battles, in terms of judge work.

Yeah, I was talking to Nick a few days ago and he said he'd be interested in setting this up. Or at least, he sounded willing to come up with enemy stats.
I was hoping to talk to him today, but I didn't see him at all. Maybe tomorrow.

Only three? This is gonna be tough. :NomNomNom:

But I approve, and Nick seems to like making battles. >>

Well 3 per guild, so depending on the guilds that are still active, we could have about 12-15 units for the good side.

I'd say any active RPG member should have their character in, as sort of a reward for, you know...being active in the RPG.

Lol. What a crazy idea. :NomNomNom:
So, uhh. Riedrid will enter. Riedrid, too. And finally, Riedrid.

CotFT lacks a key. And a stat-boosting ring. Both were on the to-do list for CotFT's next battle.
Do all of the other guilds have theirs? (key, that is)
If that's the case, to save time, we can simply have CotFT pick theirs up in-battle, in the final battle to complete the guild-circle of ring key bearers. And then we can finally take down Organization 13.

Before we poke the mechanics of this battle we should get the story straight.

Zidane never finished his conquest liberation diplomatic unification of Grandbell, so I personally think the final battle should be held somewhere in Grandbell. Like Barhara itself. Have Loputousu freeze Barhara himself (instead of having NPCs do it) and have the three CotFT units that take part in this be frozen to begin with (or two at the least, I mean to have Riedrid's group return to Barhara at just the right time for plot). Libertine recruits the other guilds and marches on Barhara. They free the CotFT units relatively early in the battle and go on a final-battle rampage that hopefully ends in Zidane obtaining the Ice key and a mauling of the bad guys.

Or, have one of the other villains hold the ice key and act as protection to Loputousu. So that we can (assuming) kill said bad guy and let me have my key (and ring) before we finish the final battle. ;_;

I don't know if it should be "Bad guys freeze Barhara, good guys go to stop him", because then my Guild would have absolutely no reason to fight them. Grandbell=My enemies. Needs to be something boarder.

Well, after this battle the idea is to assign the new groups a key from the get-go, but we'll get to that stone when it comes.

As for location, I don't see much of a problem of it being in a nameless border town. Not every battle gets to choose where it plays out, so... :NomNomNom:

"You could be next?"
"This is beyond the matter of country hatred, as it affects everyone."

Or simply a matter of Sent and two being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and deciding that regardless of their Grandbell hatred the freezing of an entire city is wayy beyond his patience.

Work with me here, it's going to be terribly difficult getting CotFT and 1RBT to work together regardless of where it is. Which is sort of the idea of this battle.

Which is why I think it needs to be a broader idea. Thracia is a interesting combination of an isolationist country combined with a war-mongering country. Like, maybe Sentenal would go out to try and save Jia or something, but honestly "Grandbell fighting supereme evil" would be something that 1st RBT would lean back on a couch while watching, snacking on popcorn.

If Grandbell was being used as a staging point to launch an attack into Thracia (doesn't have to be just Thracia), or was threatening Thracian interest, we can use that as a reason to get involved. But it can't simply be the guilds trying to save Barhara.

I guess Thracia wouldn't take the "You could be next?" too seriously?
Well, the above was just a skeleton, anyway. I'm not writing the story, just throwing out tidbits.

Any news from Nick about designing the battle? Also, if Kamai wanted to be ownage, he could make something for the storyline up

Unbeknownst to you all, I've been writing a little short story that will cover the gap between getting the rest of the keys and junks, activating them and all that, and then we can use it to segue into the final battle, that way we can sort of powerlevel all participating units in it to the end, etc etc. Working on it working on it.

It'll be fun.

Nick's idea

Nick the Cheshire Cat says:
my general idea for the last battle was that Arkdain would unleash some horribly powerful spell which turned all but the strongest-minded of Jugdral to stone - the few that survived being the three members from each guild. This elite would make their way to Arkdain's headquarters, where Arkdain, robbed of a lot of power by the magnitude of the spell he'd cast, would be with his guard.
Nick the Cheshire Cat says:
The guard would be strong, and it would be a tough fight, but winnable. The good units would have obtained the elite weapons - the S ranks, one for each guild leader, which functions for all intents and purposes as a Prf weapon except the +5% Hit and Crit - through Noddy, who had decided to betray Arkdain and his lackeys on the basis that Arkdain had turned all Noddy's customers to stone.

What do you guys think?
