This forum is where the Arena Battles will take place. This topic will explain the rules, the format, and how they will work. If you still have questions regarding Arena Battles that are not answered here, just ask and we will do our best to answer. What are Arena Battles? Arena Battles can be considered "Training" Battles. Most Arena battles are carried out between your unit(s), and NPC unit(s). If you would rather face off against another member, rather than NPCs, you can do that as well, so long as both sides agree. Arena Battles will allow your unit(s) to gain EXP, and WEXP outside of battles. We have tried to keep Arena Battles simple, yet still allow the player implement some strategy in the battles. How do battles work in the Arena? There are two main types of battles in the Arena. The first type are One-on-One battles. These work almost entirely like they do in the Fire Emblem video games. You pick your unit, and then an enemy NPC unit is randomly selected by a Judge to be your opponent. The battle is then carried out by both units attacking each other, until one unit remains. The two units attack each other by rounds. For example, if you go first (by virtue of the RNG or Vantage), then the enemy attacks. If your unit's speed is greater then the enemy's speed by 4 points, you'll attack again, and ending one round. If your speed is less than the enemy's by 4 points, the enemy will attack again and ending one round. If your speed and the enemy's speed are more or less the same, then this round will end after each have attacked once. To sum it up: If speeds have a difference of 4 (they DA) Round 1: You -> Enemy ->you again/enemy again -> on to round 2 Round 2: You -> Enemy ->you again/enemy again -> on to round 3 If speeds DON'T have a difference of 4 Round 1: You -> Enemy -> on to round 2 Round 2: You -> Enemy -> on to round 3 The other type of battle involves your entire team. We have implemented a system that will allow for 3-on-3 Arena Battles. In these battles, all 3 of your units will face off against a team of enemy NPCs, that are randomly selected by a Judge. However, with these team battles, you will be allowed to implement a "strategy" against the other team. More on Strategies further down in this topic. The team left standing at the end is the winner. How does the Arena benefit me? The Arena is a way for you to earn EXP for your units, without having to go into a map battle. For every Arena Battle you participate in, you are assured some EXP. If you win, you gain 15 EXP, and 1 WEXP for each of your team members. If you lose, each member gets 5 EXP. It is to your advantage to enter the Arena as often as you can, as you always get something. How often can I enter the Arena? After a unit enters the Arena, they must wait three days before they can enter again. So if you enter your entire team on Monday, you must wait until Thrusday before you can enter any unit again. In addition, if your units are currently in any Map Battle (Country vs Country, or Quest Battle), those units may not enter the Arena until they are defeated in the Battle, or the Map Battle finishes. Note: If you have signed up for a Quest Battle, and the Quest Battle has not started yet, you still may enter the Arena. How do I enter an Arena Battle? For Member vs NPC Battles, you will create your own topic, with the topic name being your Username. There, you will say what type of Arena Battle you are requesting; 1v1 or 3v3. If you pick 1v1, you must name which unit will be fighting. If you pick 3v3, list what "Strategy" each of your units will be using. Here is an Example: Topic Title: Sentenal 1v1 Battle, using Sentenalunit. 1v1 Battle, using Otherunit. 1v1 Battle, using Anotherunit. (Note: You can request for each of your units to have their own 1v1 battles if you wish, rather than a group battle) -or- 3v3 Battle Sentenalunit: Attack Strongest Otherunit: Defend Anotherunit: Attack Weakest You will use this same topic for all of your Member vs NPC Arena Battles. The Judge will reply in your topic, reporting the results (including EXP gained). After you request your Arena Battle, you are allowed to request another one in two days. To request another one, simply reply to the topic, using the above format. There will be a Member vs Member Arena Battle Topic here. Post that you are challenging another member, and the user name of the member you are challenging. Also state whether if it is a 1v1, or 3v3 battle. Once member you have challenged agrees, and Judge will ask for both participates to send a Private Message to them, containing their Battle Information (for this, follow the format described for Member vs NPC battles, listing which unit(s) you will be using, and what strategy each unit will use. Once the Judge receives the information from both parties, the battle will be judged, and results posted. Note: Members are responsible for keeping track of their own EXP gained. What are the different Strategies I can use in Team Battles? Here is a list of available Strategies. This system is similar to that of the Ogre Battle series, and they dictate how your unit will operate during Team Battles.
*Strongest refers to Level, then HP, then Atk, the Hit, then Avoid, then Def (in that order, in case of ties). *Weakest refers to Level, then HP, then Atk, the Hit, then Avoid, then Def (in that order, in case of ties). How is combat order decided? Normally, combat order between teams is decided randomly. The exception to this involves units with the Vantage Skill. In the event a team has a unit with Vantage, the team with the highest number of Vantage users goes first. If teams have an equal number of Vantage users, combat order is decided randomly. Combat order within a team is decided via each unit's Attack Speed stat. The unit with the highest AS will go first. The exception to this, is Vantage Users will go first, regardless of AS. So team order will either be decided randomly, or which team has more Vantage Users. And order within a team is decided by Attack Speed. What weapons am I allowed to use? For Arena battles, users are limited to using their default E rank weapon. Default E rank weapons are the Iron weapons, the Fire Tome, the Dark Tome, the Light tome, and the Heal Staff. These weapons will be generic weapons for use in the Arena only, so does not cost the Member any Weapon Uses off of their own weapons. If there is anything else you need answered for Arena Battles, ask here. Edited by Shinon, Dec 22 2009, 09:15 AM.

From now on, you are required to have battle stats posted when you request a battle before judging can continue. It is recommended that Country Leaders and players have them stashed away somewhere. Monetary rewards are also now in play in lieu with the default rewards. It's 60:20 GP for 1v1 and 180:60 GP for 3v3. |

If anyone needs help getting making battle stats, contact a judge. Most of us are willing to help you calculate them. The reason we need to have your battle stats already calcuated, is that it makes the arena much easier to run, and therefore lets us complete Arena battles much faster. |

We have increased the time limit on entering the arena from 2 days to 3 days. This has been done to reduce the Judge's workload, so we can keep things getting done promptly, and not burn out our Arena Judges. |

Arena rewards have been adjusted as the time of this post. A monetary and experience rewards remain the same, but now you get only 1 Weapon Experience for a win. None for a loss. This change has been implemented to curb the influx of level 5 units having B ranks already. |

Players cannot use the arena for other absent players. This is a rule we made back in August which wasn't appropriately announced back then. Our apologies. Or mine, anyway. We also apologize for the lag in our arena judging. :\ |

I think we basically think of you as an Issacian, so for all intents and purposes, you are one. But we can potentially have some country-less people, but they usually find a home before long. |

In effect 1/1/10: All units above level 5 may enter the arena on a bi-weekly (14 day) basis and are disbarred from 3v3's. Units level 5 and below may still enter the arena every 3 days and may participate in 3v3's. This means the arena will be catering more to the lowbies, so they may catch up, though they will be a small substitute for quest rewards. It's still strongly recommended that you pursue those instead, and only use the arena when there's nothing else for the unit to do. |

I forgot to add that healers can heal the units who have fought in the 1v1's now. They get 10 EXP, 1 WEXP, and 60 GP for doing so -- regardless of how many units they have to heal. Just request it when you post your 1v1's. Edited by Crysta, Jan 1 2010, 09:59 PM.
