As dog as a Fetch

So, I'm doing story mode which is kinda wierd. At first I was like "OMG I did something wrong! why did Cosmos just die?!?" and I thought it was game over....but then I guess the next chapter will explain why, but I'm still trying to finish up each characters....prologue? would you call it that?
Anyway, I hated Firion cus he's at I think 11 or 12 when I finished the the only hp Attack he had was that damn arrow >:(
Anyway, I love Cloud of Darkness, Squall, and Golbez.

ps. i hate their voices, (most of them anyway) And was Tidus, as a character, always that lame? I remember thinking he was kooler when I played FFX. and another thing, Gabranth (don't have him yet) is amazing!!!!

Zidane was always entitled to 12 MOV!

My roommate and I are playing right now. My Zidane vs. his Terra. He's had more time than me to play though and he's capped out all of her skills through calendar abuse. x_X;

Making Tier lists for this game? Jeez, do people not have lives?

The games just for fun, and wont be taken seriously, ever.

Got the collectors edition the other day but I've just been playing the EU version I downloaded anyway. And yes. Tidus was ALWAYS that much of a faggot.

Cloud seems less emo than he was in Advent Children, but still more than he was in FF7, which upsets me slightly still.

I was very disappointed by Zidane's voice in the story, but it does seem to fit in combat a lot more.

I'm currently running through with Terra, but she has a lot of predictable moves. Her only real advantage is the fact that she can use them so frequently and they all have really good range and homing, so you can force the opponent into dodging the majority of the fight.

I may give Kuja a try, I just don't want my friend to think I'm whoring the FF9 charas lol.

Also, being a speed-oriented player, I don't see how anybody could love Ex-Death. He makes me want to cut myself in agony every time I press the move stick and he begins to march slow as hell. And his initial HP attack sawks.

Holy shit I won't take this abuse from some fucking Cloud-lover wannabe Tidus is GOD and he's also better than Cloud, actually Cloud kinda sucks dick, but that's not surprising

Cloud is a one dimensional and gay and emo and gay and emo and really gay and really emo and REALLY gay main character while Tidus is well-developed throughout the game and looks better and is just infinitely more awesome than Cloud

Cloud could be decked out in emo apparel adorned with Jack Skellington wristbands and Gir pins and he would still appeal to me more than Tidus. I'd rant about the development Cloud goes through compared to the development Tidus goes through, but I honestly think it's unnecessary, especially if we're only comparing games. And that's just comparing him to Cloud.

Tidus was the failed attempt to continue with the 'life of the party' main character concept after 9, but he was so chipper that he was pretty gay, and throughout the first 75% of the game he was either whiny or completely naive. His ONLY redeeming moment was his final battle, and perhaps putting the moves on the woman that's supposed to be busy saving the world.

Or you, good sir, just don't know what character development is. Yeah, let's go with that.

For the sake of providing a proper argument, he got transported into an unknown universe after a monster destroyed his hometown. Do you expect him to be completely happy and okay with that?

And he's naive because he doesn't know how the world works. It's this particular feature that gives room for touching moments like when he finds out Yuna's gonna die.

And a lot of shit happens to him; almost each time things are looking up, really. Of course he's gonna be pissed.

So yeah, like I said, maybe you just don't know good character development when you see it. Because you certainly can't argue that he's a better crafted character than most, if not anyone (outside of FFX) in the FF universe; whether or not that makes you appreciate him is another case entirely.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Wow, got carried away there... if you wanna continue, lets do so in PM so this doesn't spiral away from its intended course... anyways, back to Dissidia xD

After trying things out again, I still don't see how Ex-Death is so awesome. He's so limited in attack execution, and his defensive abilities aren't really that awesome outside of the practically guaranteed reflection of projectiles...

I dislike PMs, I'ma just do it here. Anyway, most of your points allude to the fact that you don't grasp what I'm saying at all; Tidus is a realistic, very imperfect individual.

Quote:

What character didn't have a similar event happen at some point? Bartz's world was threatened to be erased. Terra's memories were lost as she was forced to kill against her will. The promised land is threatened by someone who razed Cloud's hometown.

This is completely different from what I was saying. Tidus' world is destroyed, and then he's transported into a new and unknown world and he suddenly needs to learn how to cope with this culture, the religion, etc.

Quote:

The difference is that each of these characters, instead of moping around and whining about how they can't go back to the comfort of their bed and old way of living, break from their old selves and take their respective challenges on. They developed from a normal person into a heroic person. With the possible exception of living in Besaid as a social outcast for running into a local sanctuary because of his inability to perceive social norms, Tidus was forced upon Yuna's group as a guardian. That's not growth, that's practicality.

This is even more ridiculous than your last argument. Like I said, a normal person wouldn't just pick up his sword and fight. You don't know where you are and you don't know what to do. The first thing a normal person would think is "holy shit, how did I get into this mess?" which leads back to my point about realism. I'm honestly surprised you don't get this.

And who is Tidus gonna go up against? All of Spira, because he doesn't know who Yevon is? It's not just one guy pushing Tidus around here, it's an entire world. It seems you forgot, btw, that Tidus tags along to go to Luca at first, but then to get to Zanarkand, and also because he wants to be around Yuna. It is practical to follow a group of tough guys and a chick you like to your destination, yes. Would you have preferred it had he gone alone because he's enough of a hero to do that?

Quote:

None of the characters really see how the world works until those moments where the excrement hits the revolving vanes. The difference here is the fact that this world-shattering event, whether it's the death of Aerith, the changing of the world into one of ruin under a psychopathic god, or the inevitability of time compression, these events serve to spur the character into action against their rival. After finding out that Yuna is going to die, Tidus asks her to run away from her responsibilities and live a normal life. If that is character development, he's adequately still a child going in over halfway through the plot.

They're not completely adapted to the ways of one world, it's customs and culture, etc., then whisked away into another, where everything is different and they basically have the social knowledge of a little child.

Also, what's your point about the rival thing? Tidus fights Seymour FOUR times lol, because Seymour's out to harm/exploit Yuna and later on also because Seymour reveals his messiah complex and all. How many times do you fight, say, Sephiroth? Hell, how many times do you MEET him? Oh, right, once. The loser is sleeping in a crystal while mommy-dearest is out doing all the work.

And he asks Yuna to abandon her duty because the world is chock-full of summoners, not to mention it was Yuna's own choice. She's not some chosen one decreed by the gods to fight evil. More importantly, at this point it's still believed that Sin will only die for ten years before he's reincarnated. He loves Yuna at this point, obviously this is what he's gonna do. He's not a child, he's a fucking person. God, why do half the world not realize this.

Basically the same point as above.

Honestly, the only instance of hardcore development would be him going from being selfish for just about the entire game to selfless at the game's conclusion. The rest of it he's pretty much the same. 'Lets save the world and have a happy ending, unless that ending involves something I don't like, then I'll whine and moan and kick until I achieve an ending that makes me more happy.'

Cecil develops WAY more than Tidus, in terms of loyalty, morality, kinship, and correcting the faults he made in the past, taking the challenges he is forced to face head on instead of trying to run from them.

No. No. No. NO. God no. Right from the moment we get control of Cecil, he's some goody two-shoes fellow who wants to make amends and be the best guy in the world. Sure, we hear that he razed some village before the game started, but we don't see it. He just wants to journey and kick the crap out of big bad Golbez. It's like Mario really, but with more dialogue and characters. Kain goes through loyalty issues, though, but since Golbez was mind-controlling him, even that is sorta pointless. Hell, even Golbez is mind-controlled by Zemus, so what are we left with? Nothing. FFIV had revolutionary plot for it's time, but it's really quite bland by today's standards.

Also, Tidus is the most brave of all, when you really think about it. We hear in his inner monologues how insecure he is and how frustrated he is, but he always acts as a pillar of support for Yuna, and puts on a brave face in general. And even though he essentially has nothing to gain. The whole quest ends up being him journeying to kill his dad by sacrificing the woman he loves, oh, and he's also going to fade away if he does it, too. He doesn't run, he still pushes onward and doesn't say a thing to the others.

Tidus has plenty of development in general, btw, from his understanding of Spira to his twisted relationship and inferiority complex with Jecht, to his feelings for Yuna and all this includes, to his existential crisis, to his hatred and frustration for being unable to do anything to Seymour because he's basically a king. And it's not just one-liners or sporadic, bite-sized developments like the stuff you mentioned about Cecil. It's a flowing development as he journeys throughout Spira and becomes more immersed in the world.

Okay I'm done, I've said all I think I can say, so if this doesn't make you change your views, whatever.

Back to Dissidia, all the characters are slightly depressed or emo because the crystal-stories are about overcoming personal flaws and insecurities to find the crystals. Except the Warrior of Light, he's just hardcore like that.

ExDeath is great btw, I suck with him too, but I have a friend who's good with him. He's technically invincible if you can play him properly. Which we obviously can't.

I dunno, enough dodges and well-timed blocks and just about every character is quite invincible. But then again, this is a fan-game, I wouldn't seriously believe that this is an adequate fighter by any stretch of the imagination, though it is quite fun.

Well yeah, but some people are more invincible and better at killing than others regardless of that.

actually personality wise, I think Tidus (pronounces tee-dus, wtf?) is far more annoying than Cloud. Reminds me of Naruto, but since he's a little older and in a final fantasy game it's worse....
omg, the only person that pisses me off (when fighting against) is Jecht! his grab move always gets me. It starts up so fast while it takes forever for Leon to whip out his ring of fire like move or the other HP move he has at level 20 (still not done playing the game)

BTW, can anyone tell me how long is story mode? using just one character going through the chapters. I just finished beating the first chapters (when they get theit crystals) with everyone and now Cosmos is dead and I guess the warriors are trying to figure out wtf is going on...

Cloud kinda reminds me of my cat's litter box. Shade Impulse is 4 chapters, I think. So 20 "maps" in all.

ah, so when I finish that I should be able to get Gabranth? or is there...more?
I was hoping there would be a way to unlock Vaan or someone else from ff12 but Gabranth is still awesome <3
Cloud annoys me a little bit too but I like using him with his Advent Children costume. I'm kinda annoyed that Sepheroth got half-nakedomgz!!1 as his alternate look, lol.
If only Sora was an unlockable character...i'd play everyday for..well a long time haha.
