Zidane was always entitled to 12 MOV!

Have the Luck stuff. But I can't beat that Golbez. I move in for a strike but he always blocks and counters my ass, and with that Ifrit summon one-shots me. x_X
I got the drop he has for Ultima Weapon through battling a friend.

Oh well, I'll give her another whirl tonight. Thanks for the tip.

I guess I've been taking the game lightly then since my highest character is at 87 (cecil) and my next highest is at 60 (Bartz)

I probably have bad equipment too because I haven't really focused on obtaining items or finding materials to make better weopons. I don't even know if I have anything that'll help me get the best weopons (I'm assuming there is Ultima stuff).
I'll try the level 100 thing but I'm not that good at this game so I'll probably end up getting 1HKOed a lot before I make any real progress.

If I take a level 1 character into the Dual Arena, will I be pitted against characters at much higher levels? I took in my cecil just to see what Dual Arena is like and most of them were at level 30 :/

Also, why the hell is it that whenever you fight AI characters they have moves you don't even have yet? Is there a way to get certain moves before others? My Warrior of Light doesn't have that one move yet where he summons those swords and he's at level 30something and I just fought one at level 16 or something and he has it D: I'm sure I'll learn it soon but just curious

Easiest level Duel Colosseum is 1-30. Which means you'll fight characters level 1-30, likely closer to 30.

For moves, you need two things.
First you need to be the level required to learn the basic move.
As for those moves you "don't have yet": Some bravery attacks will combo into HP attacks, but to get the HP-attack add on you must master the bravery attack first.

Some ways to grind AP:
  • Beckoning Cat (Accessory, +100% AP)
  • Diamond Ring (Accessory, +300% AP, breaks after one use [this one's pricy])
  • Bonus Day (The bonus effect is pretty random)

The Diamond Ring is eventually unlocked as a purchasable Accessory, unfortunately it costs 10,000 gold a shot. And it breaks after one use. So really, it's only an option if you're a rich fucker.

To obtain a Beckoning Cat you need:
  • Rabbits Foot x1
  • Mog Amulet x1
  • Tome of Kings x3

You get the Mog Amulet through Mognet. The Tome of Kings can be bought with a Hi-Elixir (obtained in the 'Invincible' course in the Duel Colosseum). Note that if it doesn't appear in the shop right you need to buy more stuff so you can unlock more stuff in the shop.

The obtain the Rabbit's Foot you need:
  • Yellow Gem x2
  • Luck Shard x2
  • Luck Crystal x1

To get the Luck Shard and Luck Crystal just beat the fuck out of Bartz on Quick Battle (he has to be a high level though-- just set him to easy). The Yellow Gem requires you to defeat a really hard level 100 Golbez you face through the FuSoYa battle card. To get that FuSoYa battle card you have to enter a code as specified here.

... man, you really don't realize how much effort some of this stuff takes to get until you type it all out. Some of this shit can be pretty confusing, but it'll all come with time.

Jesus H Christ....

That's a lot of stuff to remember...and it seems like in order to get the good stuff you have to put in a lot of time, not just skill ;__; I guess I'm just used to unlocking things rather quickly.

I'm wondering how far in the DC I can get with my Gabranth. If the cap is at 30 on the easiest mode then maybe I can get pretty far...
What I'm more concerned about is leveling the slower characters with that lv100 Exdeath thing. I don't think it'll take too long to acheive with a quick character but some characters take for ever to start up there HP moves.
but yeah, after all that, I don't think I'm even close to being ready to fight other players. Probably get my ass handed to me like in SF4 X__X

Look at me, talking hot shit about a Fighter that I genuinely care about. All those sexy RPG elements.
There's a first and last time for everything. ._.

Anyway, ExDeath grinding requires a lot of patience. When I was grinding on him with Firion's bow, too afraid to get close I'd take up high into the sky in that Cosmos arena (whatever the big white generic stage it called) and then keep shooting at ExDeath. No skill-- just patience. Only 1/10-or-so arrows would hit. Some characters (like Zidane) you have to move in close because you lack mid/long range abilities (with situational exception)-- which means you'll sort of have to hope for the best and try to counter anything a Minimal/Calm AI ExDeath decides to pull.

But yeah, accessories make grinding (of any form) a lot quicker. Be sure to cap out all of the calendar bonuses on your PP catalogue, as well. Makes the bonus day a lot better (especially for AP).

Hey, even if it is more popular, where is Smash's customization? Is it limited to choosing your character and your controller's button configuration? Although keep in mind, Luke, I'm not trying to bash Smash or anything...I wouldn't mind being educated on it, as well.
Texture hacks for characters and stages! Music hacks for stages! :)

Oh yeah, I manage to beat Exdeath lv 100 no problem when he's calm or valiant (the only two I've done so far) and Lowest/low equipment but I haven't had much luck with finding the Chocobo wings and stuff. Feathers yes, but I only got two wings from about an hour of doing the duel colliseum. It does get kinda hard when you're using slower characters though.

Is there any way to recharge your summons faster or extend there usage? Only two uses on Magic Pot and like 6 battles for it to recharge. lame. (might be different for other people, i dunno)

I always set Exdeath to the "Cautious" setting, and have him on Maximum (9/9) and Level 100...I think that's the optimal way for the most EXP output, but I could be wrong.

And no, Magic Pot only has two uses per six charging battles. Just do some DC and it'll be back in no time.

Yeah, along with Bonus Day, be sure to purchase all the Calendar bonus-day-upgrades in the PP shop, as well.

Indeed. ;)

Anyway, Bryars is correct. I simply opted not to suggest Maximum (9/9) because I'm not sure how a maximum setting AI ExDeath acts against characters that aren't Zidane or Shantotto. It could be insanely difficult and I didn't want to suggest that. I suppose Firion can snipe from range like always. XP

With chocobo drops-- You just have to set it to the "Treasure Hunter" play-style setting (the one with Fat Chocobo) and you'll get a chocobo drop every 3-4 battles (ish).

I think the Rabbit's Foot has a summon recharge ability, but I never relied too heavily on summons (heck, I use Shiva, Carbunkle and Cactaur-- between the three of them I never run out of reserves) so I'm not really knowledgeable there.

~ Kovu

Edited:
My roommate informs me there's a couple of decently-good accessories out there for summon recharges. He's not sure what they are offhand-- will probably look into it later.

I wonder why they simply didn't call him Luneth.
Anyway, I played as OK for a bit. I enjoyed it as I generally do the faster characters but didn't feel that I should have him as one of my mains.

And FUCK that Bartz was a bitch.

I think Onion Knight is pretty kool. I don't like how he stumbles when he misses with that one physical attack but he almost always hits with it. Tried to play online but my psp is being abitch about me getting a new router
