King Tyranus of Elzor
Tyranus the Venomous

Name: King Tyranus Leon Cedric Esmund of the righteous Ordo Elzor
Blood: Minor Baldo
Class: Lord
Gender: Male
Alignment: Neutral. Tyranus doesn't allow himself to be restrained by morals or ethics when ensuring the security of his nation. Neither, however, does he go out of his way to create misfortune for others.
True Age: 32
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 174 lbs
Birthplace: Velthomer, Elzor, Esmund shire.

Physical Appearance:
Tyranus isn't exactly a man of kingly stature - his shoulders broad, his hands calloused and his accent rural. His stubble-ridden jaw is cut hard and wide, his hair wild and dark. An unbridled grin is perpetually across his face, his eyes a bright and playful green. He often throws his arms around people in greeting and seems to have little understanding of personal space.
At royal proceedings, however, he is capable of transforming into a perfectly regal man - wrapped in armour of the finest obsidian, decorated with expensive gold, he holds his chin high and speaks in a booming, authoritative tone.
More often than not, one will find him in cheap peasant garb; a sleeveless cotton tunic, loose-fitting brigga laid with a variety of equipment belts. For ease of movement, he only wears a chestplate, iron armbands and greaves, only one arm wreathed in chain; relying more on his manoeuvrability and bladework for protection.

Personality:
The proud owner of a boisterous laugh and face-splitting grin, Tyranus is an undeniably cheerful person. With small-town values and an aristocratic education, he brings the best of two worlds together with both a disarming wit and charm. This duality is ever-present; when meeting a new person, he simultaneously throws his arms around them with a seemingly instant liking and calculates the risks of turning his back on them.
While a mostly good-natured and friendly man, Tyranus can be quite ruthless when in the pursuit of a goal or in defense of his land. If one had to name a negative trait, the first answer would probably be his egotism - though many others may come up, depending on who you ask.

Biography:
The title 'King' is a falsity in and of itself. The last official title granted and certified was 'Earl,' upon his inheritance of the Elzor estate. The duchy of Velthomer was seized after the Yied insurgence - severed from Grandbell, Tyranus' new position couldn't be ratified. In the eyes of the desert-dwelling invaders, though, his position was as official as any. Since the only existing form of government in Yied was a council of half-baked librarians who neglected the people's needs, Tyranus' unification of the territories and conversion to the Grandbellian political structure was practically unimpeded - even supported - by the authority-craving masses.

In his youth, being a king was merely a fantasy, restricted to his daydreaming while he studied arithmetic and history. Tyranus was born into the somewhat humble Esmund house, patriarch family of the Elzor order (archaically referred to as the 'righteous Order of the Golden Lion'), his father an Earl of one of the many estates within the Velthomer border - which in turn answered to the Grandbell king.
There was a whole shopping list of titles between him and the crown, and only a handful of Barons and knights who would to answer to him. The Esmund manor sat nestled in a small rural town that had grown around it, so Tyranus grew in a barely-aristocratic setting.

He mingled with peasants, learned to shod horses, even helped with the birthing of a foal. His large family was a loud and simple lot - sitting down for dinner with his many aunts, siblings and cousins was hardly an refined affair. He was raised with the values of a close-knit community, knowing the name of each butcher, blacksmith and basket-weaver within his father's lands. He often rode to neighbouring estates to play with the children of the Barons who answered to his father.
Perhaps it was this humble upbringing that granted him the charisma to seize a country.

It was a seemingly normal day when Tyranus' father rode home with a dark expression - he'd been chasing sheep with Erica and her brothers. He bid his farewells and watched as they rode off to the Tyler township before returning to the house, not suspecting anything important to come of this day.
He was apparently late, he discovered, as a flustered servant led him to the main hall with a stern scolding. His father was already in mid-rant when he sat beside his brother, asking him to fill in what he'd missed. As it turned out, Count Esmund was at odds with the Duke of Velthomer over what to do about the recent surge of Yied refugees. The Duke wanted to refuse them entry, escorting any immigrants back over the border - Count Esmund desired to welcome them.
With the support of his wife and family, Tyranus' father decided to defy his lord, granting the desert-dwellers asylum within Elzor's borders.

None of them could have imagined the consequences. The Duke of Velthomer demanded the refugees were slaughtered and threatened to remove Count Esmund from his position. Backed by his Barons and what little manpower he had, Tyranus' father supported the refugees to what extent he could - eventually falling in battle during the revolt. Using a loophole (something about field promotions and not needing the duke's verification during a time of official war), the Countess instated Tyranus as the new Earl and married him to his childhood friend, Erica. Suddenly the primate of the righteous Ordo Elzor, Tyranus was thrust into battle and forced to prove his worth.

In honour of he and his family's aid (and lacking any authoritative figures of their own), the now Yied-occupied duchy of Velthomer was granted to Tyranus. With stories of his heroism and his pure force of personality, it was mere months before Tyranus was standing atop the steps of the grand temple in the capitol of Yied, stumbling over the foreign rites written in some dusty tome. Erica remained by his side, though bitter and angry - Countess Esmund chose her for necessity, granted her no title and gave her no chance to voice any objection. She also blamed Tyranus for her father's death during the revolt, but a sense of honour and the friendship they shared her beside him - albeit as a companion and nothing more.
Tyranus refused to turn to mistresses, despite her sterility; a decision that filled her with guilt for the spell she cast.

Today, Tyranus lives as King of Yied, working tirelessly toward establishing Yied as a respected nation of the modern world. Most of his day is consumed with the tedious tasks of standardising the legal system or other such duties - but whenever he gets the chance, Tyranus unloads his work onto his subordinates, throws on a travelling cloak and charges off in search of excitement - usually with his wife in tow, to her chagrin.

Finally got around to it. Drew wild conclusions with his backstory, no idea if any of it conflicts with existing canon :V
