Always a step ahead and a day behind.

...and an amusing idea popped into my mind. It's nearly Christmas, and as a horribly morbid writer, I decided I'd get into the 'spirit' of the good ol' Christmas season. Meaning I'm going to start writing a story a day for twelve days, as of the thirteenth, with terribly twisted plotlines and morbid and/or depressing endings! :D

I may share my posts here with you guys, but I'd like to know what you think beforehand. XD I may forgo writing these "Twelve Days of Christmas" providing no one really feels like reading them.

So! Opinions! :NomNomNom:

I wouldn't mind trying a creative writing challenge such as the one proposed. I think you should, by all means, try to write these stories. Hell, if you're going to call it "Twelve Days of Christmas" why not include the items as literary motifs in your story (e.g., using "Three French Hens" as a central image in your story).

I was actually thinking more along the lines of songs to be the motifs, but I could try and "wing" the three hens and such as a motif. Or maybe de-wing... >:D

And hell, if other people would be willing to try this out, that'd be fun too. :D I'd love to see other peep's writing. Maybe everyone could vote on their favorites or something and someone will win bragging rights. :P

Hmmm. I'm not sure what I have in mind counts as "nerdery". XD Quite possibly it'd lead to people calling me insane, but... :NomNomNom:

Well, it's a bad idea if you believe in cotton candy, happy endings, cute fluffy animals and in general cute things... Then what I am planning to write are indeed bad ideas.

But seeing as I like depressing endings, eating small, cute woodland animals and angry things, I think this is a wonderful idea. :NomNomNom:

No, no, no.

Provided it gets gross, is just an amusing bonus.

I actually invest a bit of time thinking up an engrossing (lol, word irony) plot that actually draws you in. Then I hit you with a really depressing ending that just makes you sit there and ask yourself what the hell.

Think Stephen King and some of his depressing endings, but not nearly as good. I'm aiming for an effect like that.

I'm confused to as why you had to restate this post, but nonetheless this seems like a cool idea. I probably wouldn't contribute though.

He restated it because he thinks I'm better than Stephen King.

Which I think is an enooooormous overstatement of my writing skill, because I still think I'm a subpar writer... although I have the knack for it.

And that's alright, you're contributing as long as you read it and enjoy. :D That's most of my goal as a writer. Write something people will read and enjoy.
