Sentenal's extra shield is way too good. Especially in the chapter where you're constantly bombarded by husks. You can just run in and gun 'em down and when they beat the shit out of your shield it'll explode taking out any remaining husks. Those are really the only annoying enemies since most of the other enemies actually remain in one area trying to hide behind crates and junk. Plus, if you pass up AI hack then that'll mean you have an unused skill taking up space where another skill could've been. At least with the Sentenal you can use all of the abilities available and they contribute nicely to every fight you take part of, especially since in this game Biotics and Tech abilities (like Cryo) can wrap around objects to hit enemies hiding behind boxes or running around like maniacs.

I haven't tried sniping in this game yet but I did in ME1 and I'd take the Sentenals shield and better biotics over sniping.

That said, I understand that the Sentinel class is ranked quite highly by the community whereas Infiltrator has become a sort of pariah because of the loss of many techs from the previous game. However, this is perfectly fine and this is why:

A Sentinel is a medium- to close-range attacker. Infiltrators are equipped to devastate from extremely long range and yet hold their own in a close range fight (Incinerate, SMGs, Pistols). Incinerate by itself is a highly useful tech that will turn any armor to melted sod at its highest levels (or potentially set groups of enemies aflame, great fun).

At the higher difficulty levels, it is imperative to go into battle with the best advantage possible. With an Infiltrator's sniper rifle, it is far too easy to do this. The Tactical Cloak makes for even more hilarity, especially when you have the Assassin's Cloak giving you retarded damage bonuses. A fully shielded and armored enemy will die from a headshot. Those big mechs? Shoot off their head and they explode with nuclear catastrophe.

And for everything else, there are heavy weapons which all classes have access to, so husk swarms are a moot point imo.

Sniping has vastly improved in this game. The zoom is better, and now there is a thing called time dilation, where things move slower for a couple of seconds and give Infiltrators the time necessary to score some brutal hits.

In conclusion, BOOM, HEADSHOT.

How does Time Dilation work? I thought only the Soldiers had something like that? (unless it's a skill all its own).

But what other useful skills does the Infiltrator have? Incinerate can be learned, IIFC after scanning in the Valhalla system for like 15 minutes to get Element Zero, and once you learn that you still have all your other abilities like Over load, which does real good damage on the big mechs, and you still have cryo and push. The same goes for the infiltrator too but you'll have 2 highly used skills and one weapon advantage (sniping) while the Sentinel's every ability is useful and the class evolution upgrade makes Biotic cool down time so much quicker, allowing you to use Push after Push and Over load after Over load in no time at all. Also, from what I remember in the first game, your sniping gets totally thrown off if you're detected and hit. I also haven't looked up what the incinerate evolution ability options are but so far but I'm sure someone(or 3) in your team gives the whole group that bonus once they use their incinerate skill. Your heavy pistols should also have pretty good range.
I'm also not sure if Push is an optional ability(once you get enough element Zero) but I'd take that reaver ability over incinerate for the shield draining (which subsequently strengthens your own)

To me its more about the benefits of each skill and how many you have over 2 or 3 field advantages.

Infiltrator to me comes down to- Field advantage of Sniping and Incinerate. Hardly useful AI hack but can learn one more ability to obtain a useful biotic skill. ( also high accuracy and great damage output with each shot), lack of other useful skills. Lacks h4x biotics

Sentinel comes down to- Great defenses and a safety net, faster biotic cool down time, more biotics and tech abilities, can learn another ability like incinerate, great accuracy through biotics, good close range and best when in close quarters. Lacks long range (unless you use Push or Cryo which fly across the whole field)


But like I said, haven't tried the sniping in this game but I'll being it after I play as a vanguard since its abilities look kick ass. I guess it comes down to play style preference since they both have things they're very good at and things they just can't do.

Tactical Cloak. Makes you invisible, beyitch. This can upgrade to Advanced Cloak (gives you more time, otherwise is ass), or Assassin's Cloak (RETARDED damage bonus for shooting while cloaked). People think this is only good for running away, but they're not using it right. Because GODDAMN you can cause some damage for the six or so seconds you get with that.

Incinerate upgrades to either Heavy Incinerate or Inferno (I think), the latter which is area effect.

AI Hack isn't completely useless. Enemies turn their attention to the closest foe, so as soon as you turn one of them, they'll open fire on it. That's at least -1 enemy, or a heavily damaged one at least.

Also, Heavy Disruptor Rounds are critical for later stages, where almost every enemy is shielded.

This is where Biotics starts to fall short, at least in harder difficulties than Normal. You cannot use Biotics period on enemies who are shielded. You have to knock down their shields and then unleash the fury.

Lastly, I don't know if Soldiers get it, too, but Time Dilation activates whenever you zoom in with the sniper rifle. It's a passive skill, so there's no cooldown time after using it.

For the shields you can use Reaver and Over Load, which are both nice Biotics to have. I think Reaver might be the best one because it's kinda like the Giga Drain of Mass Effect, but I haven't fully upgraded it yet since I just learned it through the Element Zero upgrade thing. Overload takes down enemy shields quite a bit. Helps me take down the heavy Mechs no prob. Warp knocks down the armor on a target quite a bit, increasing the damage the enemy takes, as well as dealing damag. Only Sents and Adepts get that IIRC but both Sents and Infiltrators have Overload.

The AI hack seems kinda dangerous without shields since you have to get all up in their grills (at least that's how it was demonstrated). It's seems better to just cryo then head shot or Warp then head shot. (I use a heavy pistol most of the time and equip the visor for more damage)

I'm thinking one of the incinerate upgrades give the whole team the incinerate advantage, unless I'm wrong and Zaeed has a totally different skill from everyone else.
You could also unlock Warp ammo to help take care of those barriers.

EDIT: my bad, soldiers have "Adrenaline Rush" which is "a power granted to the Soldier class in Mass Effect 2. It temporarily slows down time around the player."

I think the cerberus card will be available for quite a bit longer with each game. I'm still seeing dragon age games wit the free shale dlc.

From what I understand, Adepts seem to be regarded as the worst class, while Soldiers are considered broken beyond belief.

Vanguard is really good too. Charge restores Shields, so when you are about to die the best idea is actually to charge and rape shit. The Claymore shotgun is basically broken (OHKO most of the time), and Pull only adds to the rape.

I think adepts are the most under rated class. Certainly not one of te best classes but I don't tHink they suck. Singularity is funny.

Soldiers got so much better thanks to adreniline skill. I'm gonna play as a vanguard next. The rush ability looks crazy.

A lot of people do bitch and moan about Adepts now because they can't ez-mode through Insanity difficulty anymore. The bottom line is that ever since shields and armor made certain enemies very resilient against Biotic attacks, Adepts suddenly don't rape everything under the galactic bulge anymore! Now players of Adepts have to learn to take cover and rush to new positions as the battle changes! A facet that my brother is currently having a rude awakening to!

Granted, he's not bitching. He still looooves his Singularity, which is pretty damn awesome.

That annoys me too. Most of the people that keep complaining about stuff like that seem to forget that adepts can learn abilities to knock down shields and shepard can learn a new ability from their team mates. Singularity-->Shockwave is great. I think they're fun to use, regardless of how much more difficult the game gets in late-game.
Never used engineer so I don't know bout them.
