At the age of 21. Impressive, right?

Do the drivers out there have any good tips for a young new driver? Plz no spam/trolling lol.

This is the SECOND time I got my permit. I never got to practice before when I was 18 due to my only option being my dad and that would have been a total nightmare. I got it again since I need to learn to drive and I have teacher options that won't result in death for both of us.

Lol wow... No trolling... This is gonna be hard

Hmmm ok well all i could tell you are the basics. If you got your permit then the rest should be easy. The thing I forgot during my drivers test was to turn my head and actually look back. Practice breaking smoothly. The person who tested me was sooooo anal about it.

1. Start learning the basics (e.g., feel for the accelerator, turning, braking properly, what speed is proper for turning) in an empty parking lot. Don't go on the road just yet. Other helpful hints of advice:

2. Make sure you make it very, very clear what you're doing to other drivers. Put your signals on early, brake slowly (rather than suddenly), etcetera. If you end up doing something stupid, at least give the other guys fair warning so that they can adjust accordingly.

The majority of the population seems to have no trouble driving; why should you?

Don't tailgate people

And if someone behind you switches to the next lane and speeds up to pass you, speed up and match his speed. Fuck him.

There is a light that never goes out...

Tips...?

Drive in parking lots practicing parking and shit. Stay away from the accelerator. When you finally do take to the road after alot of practice, go slow. Like, 10 miles under the speed limit slow. As you approach your first driving test, have the mindset of "parallel parking is going to rape me", and prepare accordingly.

You live in New Jersey, so you have no choice but to Batman it sometimes. Remember that old faggot I cut off at the intersection on Route 1? Good times.

But anyway, always be alert. It may seem like a chore at first, but occasionally give quick glances to your mirrors and out your side windows. Eventually this will become second nature as you gain more and more experience behind the wheel. Five miles below or above the speed limit is usually a safe driving speed, but the rule of thumb is to drive 10-under during inclement weather like rain.

My main problem when I started out driving was, heh, right turns. I made them pretty hard, and truth be told, it's all a matter of getting used to the car you're driving. Be very aware of blind spots, too. This is why I said to glance out through the windows instead of the mirrors sometimes.

Check your blindspot. That earned me 60% of my points on my test... And it keeps you from lane changing into people... Which I almost did once.

Your friendly neighbourhood spiderman.

I learnt in England so I don't know who well some of it will translate over but the major tip from me would be to check your mirrors, whilst driving I got told to check my rear view about once every 10 seconds you also want to check before you do any significant action: Slowing down, speeding up and especially whenever you make a turn. Also make sure to check your sideview every time you make a turn, I had a motorcyclist on my side once when I was about to make a turn and had I not checked I probably would have crashed into him.

Signalling early like everyone else said is a good thing because it shows everyone what you're doing (No-one over here seems to do it which is beyond retarded). Also a lot of learners psyche themselves out over mistakes, most of the time it's a small thing so just let it go. If you let it get inside your head you'll be worse off for it.

I thought it was bad that I've waited 6 months and still haven't gotten my permit. You've given me hope.

I waited a while as well actually, I passed when I was 18 and could've passed almost a year earlier had I been bothered.
