400 pounds? Man I wish I had that much. Rock is borked. I did pick this up because boredom is enough to counter brokeness, that and I should be getting my tax return soon...

So I finally got started, and I'm playing the "legit" way (training a team, not just blazing through with my starter), and it definitely is a lot more enjoyable this way. I just passed Lake Rage, and so far my team is:

Lvl. 30 Feraligatr
Lvl. 34 Pidgeotto (trying to evolve it, that's why it's ahead of the rest of my team)
Lvl. 30 Growlithe (not gonna evolve it until it learns Crunch; level 42 is far away though...)
Lvl. 30 Dragonair
Lvl. 31 Ampharos
I start a new full team all the time. Usually I don't have HM ho's till later, like for whirlpool and stuff, since things like surf are half decent attacks anyways.

Right now I just beat Chuck, and I have

Level 27 Quilava
Level 28 Alakazam
Level 28 Gengar
Level 25 Gyarados (sp?)
Level 25 Pigeotto
Level 14 Jolteon (leveling this one up)

I managed to catch a Ditto at the day care area, so that's become the breeding ho too.

Isn't there a move tutor that teaches pokemon their attacks they used to have or passed up? (like in diamond and pearl)

I believe there is one of those, and one that teaches certain moves to pokemon as well; it may be the same person even. I haven't found them yet though.

Your friendly neighbourhood spiderman.

I remember one of those guys but you had to give them some stupidly rare item to do it.

I've failed to come up with something witty, so I hope you will enjoy this filler text instead.

Yeah, I found that guy and I evolved Growlithe. Incidentally, I already have a Heart Scale for him, and I can get more at the Pokeathlon on Wednesdays. Anyway, just beat Lance... that was a tough battle.

Lvl. 45 Feraligatr
Lvl. 43 Dragonair
Lvl. 42 Pidgeot
Lvl. 42 Arcanine
Lvl. 43 Ampharos
Lvl. 39 Pupitar

It was mainly Feraligatr who carried me through the battle thanks to Ice Fang and Surf, but Ampharos took down Gyarados for me. I've already caught Ho-Oh, Entei and Raikou, but it's more fun to use regular pokemon. I wish Dragonair and Pupitar would evolve already, though, they're jokes compared to the rest of my team.

Wow, Clair was pretty freaking hard. I eventually won by laying down Toxic Spikes and stalling her Kingdra.

In general, the trainers seem harder than in the original games. I remember just breezing through the Elite Four the first time, but now I have a hard time beating the Kimono Girls? Geez...

@the money situation: student account overdrafts 8D basically, I'm allowed Ł1000 of interest-free debt and have three or four years to pay it off. So basically, I need to get a job next year.

I do HOPE the elite four are harder this time. And that they use more pokemon that are actually of their own TYPE. The GSC elite four were a huge disappointment, really...

The Elite Four aren't hard, but they aren't easy either. I felt that the Whitney and Clair were harder than all of the Elite Four.

Clair was easy for me, but Lance was a nightmare. The Kimono girls were also tough.

I think 3 of my pokemon know Toxic, haha, so I could just wait for the poison to finish off the pokemon I decide to stall (So far my pokemon are all underleveled and I hate grinding wild pikamanz, sooo)
Im open to suggestions for a good replacement for Togekiss. I'm not really looking for a pokemon that everyone and their mom uses (like Dragonite, salamence, charizard, etc)

I love metagross but I want to use a pokemon most people don't think of using.(I already have the shiny beldum or whatever its first form is called in my pc :P )
I was thinking of adding another sinister looking pokemon. (prefer 2nd or 3rd gen).

so many choices D:

Your friendly neighbourhood spiderman.

Their is an entire strategy based around stalling on toxic to kill the enemy. Sandstorm with Tyranitar is a similar idea, it normally works pretty well.
