Your friendly neighbourhood spiderman.

There is no system that is going to please everyone so you might as well choose a system that please no-one. That way everyone is equal.

I randomly decided to visit you guys but let's see. Surprisingly, even though I identify myself as a Liberal I think this is going a bit too far. So yes, I disagree with the Health Care Bill as of now (depending on how the whole thing plays out later I might change my opinion but as of now it's not so good). It's a bit too much, but I do urge you to stop the bullshit about Socialism = Auto-Communism because they are not the same thing at all. They're just associated with each other in the history books and idiots like to assume they're the same because of past historical events.

Beginning and End

I enjoy the socialism to communism attack. It makes me feel good in debates irl when I make those people look like idiots.

that being said, I've spent too much time telling people why taxes are necessary, and why everything is not free or cheap. Apparently some peeps on facebook liked the depression and recession. Oh how quickly they forget.

Taxes don't help people.

And only Democrats raise taxes.

Sure, Taxes are necessary. No one contests that. Only idiots think people don't understand that the taxes are necessary. The question is just how much should people be taxed. And Conservatives would say "very little".

Unfortunately there’s never been an episode in which we’ve tried reducing taxes when interest rates were this low. :psypoke:

Stalin used his SCOP, Winter Fury, before Hitler could build his up. Bullshit lucky win.
lolz

At any rate, taxation is important. It sounds silly, but when you have a state like California going into massive debt because people vote to pass all these bills which require massive public spending but refuse to raise taxes it becomes apparently obvious that the American people need to pay for government benefits. Conservatives don't believe that's the inherent job of the government (to provide extensive public service, that is) so they tend to vote against tax hikes because they don't support the reason for the tax hike and they certainly think it's better for the economy to keep taxes low.

I'm sort of inclined to agree with the latter reason why we should avoid unnecessary tax increases, but at the same time if it's paying for a government benefit it cancels out because that money would also theoretically go towards paying for that service in the first place. In the example for Health Care, people still need to pay for Health insurance in both cases so a tax hike would be reasonable.

Conservatives would argue that the vast majority of these government programs tend to be bloated and terribly inefficient. Just look at how poorly ran Medicare or Social Security is run, both of those are practically bankrupt.

That's an elegant, simple, and incorrect assessment for why those programs failed -- in some cases. Social Security as a program isn't flawed, it's when the government does stupid shit and spends all the money it collects from social security rather than saving it. Sometimes it's correct though.

I don't see what I said is incorrect, when you basically just said the same thing I did using different words.
