Conservatives would argue that the vast majority of these government programs tend to be bloated and terribly inefficient. Just look at how poorly ran Medicare or Social Security is run, both of those are practically bankrupt.
That's an elegant, simple, and incorrect assessment for why those programs failed -- in some cases. Social Security as a program isn't flawed, it's when the government does stupid shit and spends all the money it collects from social security rather than saving it. Sometimes it's correct though.
I don't see what I said is incorrect, when you basically just said the same thing I did using different words.
You said the program itself is bad and run badly, he just said it's run badly and the program itself isn't the problem. :kermit:

There is a light that never goes out...

I said they are bloated and inefficient, and didn't say anything about the nature of the programs. And they are bloated and inefficient due to the government doing "stupid shit". :kermit:

No, because that doesn't reflect on the program. That's like saying a guns kill people because people decide to shoot other people.

I think the crux is that our government sucks at running these things, and we keep entrusting them (some of us against our will) with even more responsibilities when they haven't quite given us a good reason to believe they can handle it.

Eh, that's how it has to be with our current political system. It'd be ridiculous to expect 100% consent on anything and your claim can be applied to almost all solutions presented by the US government. Otherwise the rest of your claim is fine.
