I am moderate. I believe in gay rights, some access to abortion, increased funding for education, anti-death penalty, so on so forth. I don't support the Republicans 100% of the time, either. If I had to estimate how much I support either party, it's R/D:70%/30% |

It exists so that Church and State don't corrupt one another. We can see what that does just by looking at the Arabic nations. Try telling someone born with cerebral palsy that they have the right to good health. |

You wouldn't be covered for that in the current system because it's a pre-existing condition. Edited by AdamNW, Mar 22 2010, 09:57 PM.

Can't you read? Our government's own Medicare rejects more people based on stipulations like that. Don't take my word for it, you can read the American Medical Association's report yourself. I hope you don't believe that insurance companies reject EVERYONE who has a pre-existing condition. It varies from company to company and they evaluate individual cases before giving quotes. It's called competition. The competition needs to be at the provider level, though, and it's not right now. Edited by Soja², Mar 22 2010, 10:04 PM.

First of all, learn the word "Exaggeration." I already explained how people actually get covered, and that it's possible.
If I have insurance, and get cancer five years from now, I should be able to get coverage for cancer treatment. @Soja: I remember reading somewhere that the reform would make it so insurance couldn't be denied unless there was suspicion of fraud. I may be thinking of a different bill though. Edited by AdamNW, Mar 22 2010, 10:06 PM.

Last time I checked Medicare isn't the only player. And ahead by 0.05%. Remind me to avoid Aetna. |

Medicare is the only government player, that being the point. The Democrats and their Chosen One were up there crying about how Susie got rejected by the big bad insurance companies because she had asthma when their own establishment is better at that game, and for people who need it more at that. Most of Medicare's clients are the sick and elderly, which is why the program is imploding on itself. Oh Humana is just as bad if not worse. |

Shouldn't this theoretically prevent Medicare from continuing to do that, as well? Or are commie-run health systems exempt somewhere in this bill? Edited by Crysta, Mar 22 2010, 10:10 PM.

@Sety: Then that will take away the insurance companies' right to select their clientele and those that remain will end up paying even HIGHER premiums because they're now force-saddled with liabilities. I have no doubt that they would accept everyone by choice because, hehey, more money, right? But there is that one little quid pro quo about having to pay for someone's care when they actually need it, and when that happens, they will try and offset the costs somehow. Or fold. Then the government gets even MORE wards, doesn't it? Or they then get fined, and fuck to that. |

I feel proud having tore us apart, being the one who first mentioned it. anyhow, I think what Crysta posted from Cheney is one of the few things he said I agree with. the American people don't always know the whole issue. Unfortunately, he abused that a bit much. Anyways, this leads to an increase in privatization, so I don't see what government coverage has to do with it. Sure, more would go on Medicare perhaps, but that's only in rare circumstances. You're looking at the bark on the tree, not the whole forest. On the up and up, this actually just sets guidelines that are universal for all insurance companies, instead of them doing as they please. |

@Soja: Gay marriage is the only thing I'm not conservative on. Abortions in cases of rape, incest, and high risk to the mother are generally cool with conservatives, so that's not abnormal at all. 70/30 makes you conservative for sure. 60/40 or less is moderate. 70/30 is like...a horrible match-up in a fighting game, not a moderate one. @Sentenal: Stop flaming so much. >_>; |
