Chances are that this will get no posts but I'll try anyway. Anyone here heard of it or even own it? I'm really enjoying it so far and I'd probably say it was my favourite game of 09 and I played all of the big releases. If you have a PS3 and don't own this I would highly recommend picking it up. It has a fairly steep difficulty curve at the beginning but it's incredibly satisfying. Imagine Monster Hunter but set during medieval times and with even more incredibly awesome boss fights. |

I beat this about a week after it came out lol, I started as a Knight and went melee all the way. I still own it of course, since it's a good game, but I haven't attempted NG+ yet. |

NG+ is basically hard mode. Each time you beat it things get stronger and tougher. It's kinda ridiculous. XP But yesh, it's a good game. I think was Royalty. I used melee with decent magic stats. Edited by Tiaro, Apr 20 2010, 10:48 AM.

Yeah, I know how it works, and I also know the jump in difficulty is immense, which is why I haven't bothered trying it yet. |

If I owned a PS3 I would be ALL OVER this game. I played King's Field and absolutely loved it, and this game is more or less the sequel-esque and looks ridiculous from when I saw my friend playing it |

It's not that bad, It's pretty hard to come into this game and try and rush it since you need to play fairly carefully. I just started NG+ on my main character and I've been doing okay. I think I died to Flamelurker once or twice but he's the only one. I haven't tried the harder worlds yet though. I love this game so far, there are a few things wrong with it (The co-op system) but overall it's so amazing for coming from such a small budget. What's your PSN name HJ? I'll play it with you sometime if you want. Maybe I should just make a PSN name thread or something. |

The Flamelurker is a nightmare for pure melee characters. Gave me a lot of trouble too. I thought 1-3 and 1-4 were the hardest worlds in the game, but then again they are designed to be the "final" worlds. They're probably also my favorite. Especially 1-4's boss. My PSN is Loke2208 |

World 5 the actual world part was really difficult, I was pretty dissapointed at how easy the bosses were though. I think I 1 hit both of them with Firestorm. I did go with a fairly easy build though. |

I thought 5 was pretty easy, except I got lost in that huge swamp area, but I never was in danger of dying. You one-shotted Garl with Firestorm? Or did you just go for the Maiden right away? I have a hard time believing Garl died in one hit. And eh, magic. I don't really like it in this game; fights aren't as tense and exciting when you use magic. Tower Knight is a great example of this. When I complete NG+, though, I'm definitely gonna get the Black Maiden's Soul and learn Soulsucker so I can farm souls. Edited by -HJ-, Apr 22 2010, 12:52 PM.

God no, I don't see Garl as the boss, you can skip him by just killing Maiden with a bow, Garl was cool but the only thing that made him difficult was his Riposte. Middle of a combo, oh wait you're dead. I killed him first time though because of second chance. I know what you mean. Magic makes a lot of the bosses stupidly easy, especially Firestorm. Being able to 1 hit Maneaters, Dirty Colossus, Leechmonger and people like that wasn't very difficult. I'm making a Guts character for it and I find it a lot more fun. Phalanx was easy as ever but Tower Knight was fun as shit to take down in melee. |

Well, I used the Purple Flame Shield, so I was able to deflect his attacks, and then I just hit him while he was stunned. That shield has a pretty large Strength requirement and it's heavy, but it's definitely worth it for a pure melee character. What equipment are you using on your characters, btw? I'm using the entire Gloom set, a Quality Claymore +4, a Purple Flame Shield +9, and the ring that increases my equip burden (since my set is pretty demanding) and then I alternate between Soul Ring and Ring of Avarice. Over the course of NG+ I'm going to switch out the Claymore with the Blueblood Sword, so I've begun pumping my Faith/Mag/Luck. |

At the moment I'm wearing the Binded Set, but with Silver Bracelets and a Silver Coronet instead of the Gloves and Hat. I generally use either a Dark Silver Shield (I wanna upgrade it to be +5, but haven't gotten a chance yet) or an Adjudicator's Shield +5, if I'm not using a shield (for PvP pretty much) I'll either have my Kris Blade +5 or a Moon Uchi+5 in my offhand. In my main hand I'll use a Moon Uchi +5 or a Talisman of Beasts/Insanity Catalist for spells (The second one is only if I'm trying to take down a boss). For Ring's I either use a combination of: Cling Ring, Eternal Warrior's Ring, Ring of Avarice, Ring of Magical Sharpness and Thief's Ring. If I recall my stats look a little something like this: SL: 104 Vit: 30 Int: 30 End: 30 Str: 18 Dex: 12 Mag: 45 Faith: 18 Luck: 7 I have a few alts but they're not nearly as interesting. I have a Wanderer that I've made to use the Blueblood Sword at the lowest possible level. He's SL37 afaik, and he can use it I just have to run through 5-2/5-3 to make it. The other one I have is a Guts character that is just there for laughs, I've pretty much pumped everything into strength and want him to use the Keel Smasher. |

Yeah, I was considering switching out my Purple Flame Shield for the Dark Silver Shield, but I decided not to because I prefer the PFS' defensive parameters to the DSS' in the end. It's a good choice either way. |

I like the DSS because it has nice hit res and 100% physical damage cut, 100% magical damage cut and 70% fire damage cut. Which means that I can get hit by pretty much anything and all I have to worry about is it breaking my guard. |
