Talk to me about games I am currently interested in

I fucking love video games. I've been actively playing them since I was 4 years old, and I'm currently 22. I remember when Pokemon came out, when the SNES has hype as fuck, and when 3D gaming seemed like a miracle.

I'd like to talk about games I recently beat or am currently playing. Because...they are obviously part of my current interests and things I could converse about. So, ask me questions, or state whatever about the games.

Recently Completed

-Professor Layton and the Curious Village
-Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
-Professor Layton and the Unwound Future
-Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

Currently Playing

-Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (level 1 hard mode)
-Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure
-Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
-Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals
-Super Smash Bros. Melee (semi-active competitively)
-Super Smash Bros. Brawl (highly active competitively)
-Pokemon Online (competitive Pokemon)

Okay, so I admit I never really got the competitive Pokemon thing with the IVs and the EVs and such. Can you recommend any succinct/easy to understand guides or anything? I might give it a try when B&W are released.

I've failed to come up with something witty, so I hope you will enjoy this filler text instead.

Days of Ruin was great, most of the new units were great additions and the CO powers weren't broken beyond belief this time so there was room for actual strategy. You could still win a lot by just cranking out legions of tanks, but hey, what can you do?

Order of Ecclesia is easily my favorite DS Castlevania so far but I don't really have anything noteworthy to say about it lol. Henry Hatsworth is hilarious and surprisingly awesome coming from EA.

I've played the first Layton but I stopped halfway through the Diabolical Box. Need to play them all in preparation for Layton vs. Gyakuten, though.

Oh yeah, you (and everyone else) should check out Ghost Trick. It's made by Shu Takumi, the creator of Ace Attorney, and it's a great game with an enjoyable story and a cool cast of characters. The puzzles are also quite clever a lot of the time.

Serebii.net does a pokemon of the week with competitive battling strategies. Also, Smogon has a StrategyDex as well as a guide to online battling.

Me? I just had Yzarc, Kang and a few others just teach me after I downloaded Shoddybattle.

I tried to get into competitve Pokemon, but it really drained the fun out of it for me. I'm usually pretty competitive, but I don't know Pokemon is kind of too much of a joke to take that seriously. I love the series to death, it is among my favorite games of all time. I just think it's retarded to put that kind of effort in.

Of course I'm a big Super Smash Brothers fan. In this case, I could never play competitively because I simply wil never be good enough. I'm fine with that.

FE Path of Radiance is probably my favorite FE besides FE7.

Fuck training. POKEMON ONLINE. You can make teams with all of the raising done for you and pour your IVs and EVs into whatever stats you want. For instance, you can take a Doryuzu and max out his speed and attack so he massacres everything in a sandstorm when you put the double speed in sandstorm ability on him.

Why did you stop? I couldn't put Layton down. Shit's too good.

Wow. So you dont play competetively at the world tournaments with your own copy of the game or anything? I was actually going to say if you guys have WiFi and a copy of SS or HG at the go, I'd give you guys a flatbattle with standard 2 v 2, 4 pokemon each rules, what a letdown. :psypoke:

What're your favorite mons from the current gen, 4, that is, since B/W arent out yet. I've got a good few pokemon trained up myself from newer gens, but I'm still loving Arcanine and Umbreon as my favorites.

Training Pokemon is rather fun, even with IV breeding and move breeding.

Yeah, I guess that's true. Even still, you can only go so far playing level 9 computers and shit. That's retarded. The best Smash player I've ever played was Reaver, and he beat me. I doubt he's any good in comparison to a pro.

Also, Brawl doesn't work my fucking Wii. I have two copies of Melee and neither of them work.

Yeah, I take it you dont use Item clauses etc like proper tournaments? Seems alright for the next gen but, you've left out some really big hitters in the next one. Mainly Axface. God I love that guy. Hell, Trick Room ftw even.

Sandstorm Team: Major weakness to fighting and any decent walls.

I couldn't care less about "proper tournaments" since they are few and far between and run shitty rules. Pokemon Online is gdlk.

My Sandstorm team just lost to someone hitting Focus Blast 4 times in a row. That's a weakness to luck, not fighting. ~_~ But yeah, fighting types are a bit of an issue, but usually Garchomp outmuscles them or Gliscor tanks their shit forever. Walls get raped by insane offense often enough, and Gliscor outwalls most walls. :)

I wish Kingdra had more offense. :(

Oh. Sounds like someone doesnt like official rules and stuff. All I can say is, it's the same way you feel about your Brawl rules.

70 accuracy isnt luck. Sheer Cold etc OHKO'ing anything is luck. Hell, just use Close Combat and shits going down. Gliscors an awful tank imo. 75 base Sp.Def and 75HP means he wont take any special hits. Hell my friends one thats IV'd in def can barely take an Ice Punch from a non ice type with 125 base attack. Add in Stab and its over.

I wish Arcanine had more speed. :(

70 accuracy four times in a row is luck. Do the math. If any of them missed, I would have won.

Gliscor is in OU, man. He's a bawse. He laughs at physical attackers and has some very homosexual stalling tactics. His typing gives him two immunities and many resistances. So what @ ice? Mine just ate an ice punch and didn't even lose half of his HP. Only special attackers are a threat to him.

Ice Punch + Adamant Gallade with 31 Attack and speed, 252 in Attack, Speed and toss the other 4 evs wherever you want, 1 stat wont make a difference really and thats at least a 2HKO if it doesnt kill it in one.

Hell, lets even go with Weavile with Ice Shard, same EV and IV spread, and nature. It'll die, every team has at least one ice move generally just to deal with Garchomp and Salamance.

Real luck is Protect working 3 times in a row.

I wouldnt use Gliscor as a tank myself. I'd much rather use him as a setup pokemon, that's his best role I find.
