When this game first appeared in the U.S. as Final Fantasy II for the SNES, I never thought to see myself playing through another half-dozen versions of the same game. Given, updated in its own way each time.
But apparently it's going to happen.

PlayStation Portable is getting a version of Final Fantasy IV. But there's a bit more to the new version than just a port of the 1991 Super Famicom/SNES classic.

The latest issue of V Jump has a first look at Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection. This PSP title combines Final Fantasy IV with Final Fantasy IV The After Years. The latter is an episodic sequel to FFIV that was released on Wii Ware last year after originally appearing on cell phones.

For the PSP, Square Enix is redoing the visuals and adding a new scenario that connects FFIV and The After Years. There could be some other new elements as well, but we'll have to wait for a followup report.

Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection is due for PSP release in Spring 2011.

So basically FFIV's getting a psp port combined with FFIV: The After Years and a new story that takes place between FFIV and The After Years.

Of course this has received mixed reactions. For obvious reason.

That said. For some god-awful reason I'm still looking forward to this. I guess it's the fact that it's going to be long-ass game if its going to contain both the original and After Years, as well as some new content to boot.
Moar IV? y/n?

There is a light that never goes out...

This I'm actually interested in, considering I wanted to play the After Years as well.

I've failed to come up with something witty, so I hope you will enjoy this filler text instead.

After Years sucked, but I've only played the DS version of FFIV which is ugly as sin, so I'll give this a download and enjoy it once more.

That said, stop remaking this fucking game already and remake FFVI, cause I've never played that and I really want to.

Ugh, why more IV? It's been ported/remade so many times it's not funny anymore.

However...there's going to be some extra content in Duodecim if you have this game's save data on your memory card or something, so maybe I will get it...

Speaking of FFIV...listen to this awesome Battle 1 remake that's gonna be in Duodecim:
