Water treatment in households removes physical and chemical contaminants from waste water. Treatment of waste water is performed by using water treatment chemicals as well as their derivatives. Normal waste water treatment process includes settlement of suspended particles and other contaminants. Secondary phase of waste water treatment is done by biological treatment. Treatment of urban waste water is an issue of social relevance in many parts of the country. Civic bodies in big cities take care of waster water and sewerage system of respective urban areas. In some parts of the world, marine water is subjected to chemical treatment and it is converted into potable water. However marine water treatment does not affect the environment much like urban waste water treatment. Lot of elements should be taken consideration before discharging effluents into water resources like ponds, tributaries and rivers. Many individuals prefer waste water treatment packages with low running costs. Water treatment chemicals are imperative for the treatment of clean and pure potable water. Cooling towers too make use of water treatment chemicals and similar chemical substances. As water needs to be maintained at hygienic conditions, waste water treatment requires special mention. Generally, water gets deteriorated due to environmental conditions and some examples are water stagnation, bacteria growth and formation of fungus. Usage of untreated water causes many hazardous health conditions like legionnaire’s disease. Water treatment chemical usage is an essential aspect of waste water management principles. Scale, corrosion, suspended particles as well as bio fouling are the hygienic issues found in drinking water. Bio dispersants and biocides are the common examples of water treatment chemicals. |
