![]() Second guide regarding Survival Hunters! This one covers duelling the more common class/spec combinations. I play as a Human so if you see EMFH, assume this as your PvP trinket. Bearing in mind an experienced/exceptional player will make the fight harder than it seems. This guide is not designed to win you duels, it's designed to help you duel other classes, but the chances are whether you're outgeared or outskilled, Hunters are weak at surviving and therefore regardless of everything forthwith you will still most likely die. If the spec isn't listed on this thread, it isn't common, if some dumb fucker is playing it, you're on your own. GL HF. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gemming 175 spell pen is the bare minimum, remember you can enchant some onto your cloak and then gem blue sockets with +50 spell penetration. You need spell penetration as all 3 Hunter specs but no other spec is affected more than Survival. All of our damage is magical, including traps! Other than that, +40 agility EVERYWHERE. On your legs, in your head on your belt, every slot you can +40 agility goes into it. The only exception is, for example, red slot yellow slot on a particular item with the slot bonus being +20 agility. In this case I take +40 agility and then +40 agility +20 resilience. (More resilience is always good as a Hunter! Especially if you run with any PvE gear!) Richer people can opt in for +50 agility. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enchanting! Helmet - PvP enchant Shoulders - PvP Enchant Cloak - Greater Spell Pen Chest - Mighty Resilience OR Peerless stats (Resilience is my preference) Wrist - Agility for non-LW, Draconic Embossment for LW. Gloves - Major Agility Legs - Dragonscale Leg Armor 2h - Enchant 2h weapon, mighty agility. Ranged: Flintlocke's Woodchucker. Professions Engineering & Blacksmithing win by a metabolic landslide for PvP. However, engineering is pants in arena, and there are few suitable replacements, herbalism works. Glyphs Glyph of Kill Shot-Effectively denies or pressures healing in execution phase, back to back killshots. Glyph of Explosive Shot-More crit is always good. Glyph of Arcane Shot-Filler for pooled energies and for preventing clipping during Lock n Load. The rest are your choice, I'd definitely suggest taking glyph of master's call & glyph of disengage for majors. Talenting ![]() The only change I would make is MAYBE taking MM up to "Sic em" instead of going BM. But survivability as Survival, ironically enough, is shit. You do so much damage (which I might add, is dispellable - so make your burst your dispel protection, force them to heal instead of dispel or go with an Affliction Lock / Spriest. They will give you dispel protection!). Do not under any circumstance play this spec with a Rogue or a Feral, it's a waste of time, your damage gets dispelled like it's nothing but it's worth using in an RBG. Survival is by far the best spec for battlegrounds. Marksman does not even come close to the control capabilities of Survival when played well. Do not follow ArenaJunkies like sheep. You don't take Sniper Training because Survival spends more time in fox aspect than any other spec, you need to always be on the move. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Crowd Control Scatter Shot4 second blind. Can be using in melee range to gain distance. Frequently used to secure freezing traps on healers. Can be deathed by a skilled Priest effectively denying your trap. If this happens, concussion shot immediately. Concussive shotSnare on a short cooldown, if the Priest deaths scatter this is good to use to attempt to trap, it's hard to escape from. Paladins can cleanse this and cause immunity to it. Wyvern Sting8 second sleep, I personally like to use this in place of an interrupt as it breaks from dot damage. It does remove serpent sting but won't remove black arrow. Remembering that we don't have silencing shot, save this. - Freezing TrapNot to be confused with ice trap. This freezes the enemy in a block of ice for 8 seconds, try to launch this after a scatter shot as it's very easily avoided by someone who isn't stupid. Procs Lock n Load. - Ice TrapNot to be confused with the above, snares enemies in the "blue" frost area by 50% for as long as they stand in it, this can be cloaked, freedom'd etc. Lasts 30 seconds untalented. There are various other CC from pets such as spiders and monkey. The spider has a web, the monkey has a blind, whichever you use is your preference. Alternatively you can avoid both and go with a straight dps ferocity pet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Death Knight Frost - Howling BlastDifficulty - 7/10 A dualwielding frost DK with howling blast spec is the biggest threat you will ever face. Kiting them just becomes irrelevant when they can sit there and spam howling blast. Still, they're twice as deadly up close, keep them away from you. Force lichborne with wyvern sting if you can, then as soon as he Lichbornes you have two options. Damage him as quickly as you can or trap him. Lichborne can be used later to heal, which is why you need to force him to use it early or defensively. Bearing in mind Lichborne is on a short cooldown, kill him quickly or you'll be forced to restart the fight, and with no selfhealing a restart of the fight will be in the Death Knight's favor. Use master's call on chains of ice, trinket chains if he gets too close or use scatter and lay down a trap. If you're really quick, try and place him in a freezing trap when he spawns his pet, then kill the low HP pet. This will stop him sacrificing it for more HP, but there isn't much to stop him using army of the dead and using sacrifice again. UnholyDifficulty - 9/10 Unholy DKs have far too much survivability and magic resistant cooldowns at their disposal to really kill as Survival. MM & BM are far more efficient specs to use against this spec. But if you try anyway, save trinket for Gnaw (pet stun), master's call roots and keep him away. If he uses Anti magic shell, switch to steady shot, if he death grips you, use deterrence instead of disengage. Otherwise he'll just chain and catch you again. The main issue is the damage combined from gargoyle and the pet, he can also heal himself and his pets endlessly so killing them isn't an option, unholy frenzy will break any cc on his pet or his gargoyle, so this all becomes besides the point. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Druid FeralDifficulty - 6/10 Gear is everything against Ferals, if your resilience is slacking you will not kill one of these. The bleeds do too much damage. Effectively, you'll want to stop him from shredding you (do not let him stand behind you). I try to stand in flare and wait for him to open on me, this effectively stops him from pouncing, the opener does way too much damage. Our main benefit against Ferals is that we can fear them with scare beast. If he leaves cat form to avoid the fear, at this point I like to Wyvern sting him whilst he's in caster form and then charge a cobra shot and unleash it with an explosive shot for maximum damage which he can't prevent. He's fairly useless in caster form too so the more you can force him into it to heal, the better. Just don't let him touch you, use concussion shot and traps. Deterrence if you can't disengage.
