A: As we are on a English Forum hosting site, this is sometimes happens, however, you can try posting Chinese Character using decimal-entity codes instead. Encode Chinese Characters here. Q: Why are some of the same locations named differently in different Eras? A: We try keep the names historically correct, as well as using Hokkien for Warring Sates and Cantonese for Tang Dynasty, this is because Hokkien sounds closest to Ancient Chinese while Cantonese sounds closest to Middle Chinese. Q: Why do we have 4 Eras? A: This is to cover the full range of the Wuxia Genre. Q: What are the differences for the 4 Eras? A: The Warring States allows Taoist Magic, and has an overall mystic feel to it, like warriors of Shu Mountains. Tang has a liberal Kung Fu setting, allowing for more Kung Fu like flying on a sword and such. Ming is the most normal one, with power levels similar to those of mainstream WuXia novels, like those byLiang YUSheng, JinYong and GuLong. While for present day, it's along the line of LongHu Men, but low level ESP, like those in Stephen Chow's series are allowed, but no blatant superpowers like marvel, DC or Tokyo ESP, elemental control is out. Basically, only things like precognition, telekinesis, transvection and other common psychic abilities are allowed. Q: Must my character be Chinese? A: Only for the warring states. For Tang and Ming dynasties, China was rather open to outsiders and many foreigners trade in China. And needless to say for today. Keep in mind that they must be still using some form of Martial Arts. And no Magic. Q: Must my character be human? A: Only for the warring states, no, you can have Chinese supernatural beings like fox spirits and suchs. For all other ages, yes, all characters must be human. Q: Are firearms allowed? A: Only for Ming and Today. |
