White Album, Rubber Soul and With The Beatles are my favourites so far... I've been listening to 2 albums every day for (pretty much) the past week, here's what I thought: Please Please Me - Eh, has a few good songs but it's too pop-ish (you could just listen to The Beach Boys instead...) With The Beatles - Here we go, much better. Lots and lots of love songs, but that's okay. A Hard Day's Night - Got kinda sick of all the love songs here but it's still good. Beatles For Sale - Liked this one as well, just not as much as With The Beatles Help! - I've Just Seen A Face and Help! kick ass, not a big fan of most of the other songs. Rubber Soul - this is where they start to really get their own sound, I absolutely love this album despite not really knowing any songs of it beforehand. Revolver - Another strong album, but haven't listened to it many times yet. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club - Oh, the experiments! Such a friggin' good experimental album, pure awesomeness. The White Album - Still listening to this one, seems at least as strong as Revolver. So yeah, got a few albums left (the Past Masters as well). Can't go wrong with anything produced after Rubber Soul. Personally I think you should check Rubber Soul and Revolver out, just cuz. Edited by Shadow, Jun 21 2008, 07:19 AM.

It pleases me to see that you're discussing one of the greatest bands to ever exist - The Beatles. They definitely played a major role in the evolution of rock music, and they basically paved the way for all future rock bands. You can even ask many of the bands and music artists of the 70's and beyond who inspired them the most, and the answer will probably be The Beatles. I have much love and respect for the Beatles. They were pioneers, and they helped to change the music world forever. |

I never really understood all of the love for The Beatles. They have some catchy melodies. Tons of other bands do. Yes, they were incredibly innovative and they pioneered many musical ideas, but there's a difference liking a band for their technological innovations and liking a band for their actual songs. On a song-for-song basis, there are plenty, PLENTY of other bands that are far superior to The Beatles. On an innovation basis, not so much. |

My favorite album by the Beatles was "Sgt. Peppers" simply because it was the most psychedelic of all their albums, in my opinion. If you listen to the songs on that album while tripping on acid, I'm sure they'd increase the intensity of your trip! And I beg to differ about your comment on the Beatles lacking a lot of good songs. Right off the top of my head, I can think of about 15 sweet songs they made. And if I remember correctly, the Beatles are up there on the list of bands with the most number one hits. I'm talking about songs that climbed to THE PEAK of the music charts! Now if the Beatles' songs sucked that bad, would they have made it that far on the charts? Would millions upon millions of their records been sold? I think not! This proves that they are FUCKING AMAZING! And they were English.....which is what my ancestors were. :up2: |

15?! Wow, that's, like, little more than 1 full album. If you really love a band, they'll easily have dozens of amazing songs. Considering how many albums the Beatles have made, 15 songs isn't that much. And like KN said, their popularity is for a large part not because they're good (but I'm not saying they weren't), but because they were very innovative and groundbreakingly original. |

Yeah, I agree with you. Neil is an idiot. They've got dozens of awesome songs. That being said, do I think they're overrated? Yes, of course. They're not "OMFG BEST BAND EVER", they're just damn good. Some albums are really good and I can see how people would list them in their favourite album lists, especially because those albums meant more for them back then. Now we've already got all of those albums as back catalogue they're not that special anymore, but the same is going to happen to every good band. The fact that they're still this much alive 30 years after they've produced these songs says a lot. |

You guys are fuckin cocksuckers because you know damn well that the Beatles have either broken or come close to breaking EVERY fuckin music record known to man. And I unofficially counted them out to have 21 songs that reached NUMBER ONE on the music charts. (And the Beatles were only around for what? 8 years or so? Not too fuckin shabby) KN: People won't look at 50 Cent in 50 years as being responsible for one of the biggest musical movements in history or revolutionizing the music world as we know it. 50 Cent also didn't have the immense following that the Beatles had. Girls EVERYWHERE got wet instantly for the fuckin Beatles and you know it! And even if 50 cent was a musical genius, within the Beatles there were 4 FUCKING MUSICAL geniuses so fuck off. Oh and btw, Paul McCartney and John Lennon had some pretty successful solo careers of their own. Oh not to mention the fact that they actually played fuckin instruments unlike shitty ass rappers who just rap or boy bands who just sing. They were the original garage band and they also were a "boy band" at the same time because women ADORED Them. And maybe "Umbrella" was the best song of 2008? With how much shitty music has been coming out recently, I wouldn't fuckin doubt it. I hate the song myself, but that's just cuz that ain't my style. But you can't compare that one song to the dozens of chart topping hits the Beatles had. There is no comparison! But don't listen to me....the statistics speak for themselves: http://www.jpgr.co.uk/stats_trivia_a.html http://www.classic-rock-legends-start-here.com/beatles-discography.html I'm not saying you have to like the Beatles, but you have to give them respect. They did it all and then some. If it wasn't for them, some of the bands you guys listen to might not even exist. And you could argue that, but just ask a bunch of bands who inspired them the most and I guarantee you that a vast majority will say "The Beatles". Sorry for getting pissed, but you guys are wrong about the Beatles. They meant more to rock music than arguably any other music artist/band EVER. |

I don't have too much muscle. I'm about 5'8 1/2 (yea I'm short but so what) and I weigh 160 pounds. 160 pounds is not enough weight to have all that much muscle. Anyways, onto my vital statistics: I can run 2 miles in under 12 minutes no problem. I run 3 times a week for an average of 4 to 5 miles each time. Often, when I'm done with those runs, I'll do a couple miles of biking as well on my one speed BMX Mongoose Bike. In addition to all of that, sometimes I'll play basketball with my friends. Now onto lifting....my favorite. I focus on major muscle groups. Each time I lift, I'll only focus on one particular muscle group. One day I'll do triceps, the next day I'll do biceps, the next day I'll do shoulders, and the next day I'll do chest. I also throw in a day where I'll do 50 + pull ups and possibly some up-right rows. Now, when I do basic bicep curls, I'll either start with 30 or 35 pound dumbells and work my way up 5 pounds after each set of 10 to 12 reps. My final set for bicep curls is 45 pounds and I do that 10 times each arm. I also do forearm curls starting off with 50 pounds and working my way up to 85 pounds. Of course, I won't do a lift if I can't do it at least 8 to 10 times keep in mind. I also do hammer curls starting with 30 pounds and working my way up to 40. In benching, I start with 150 pounds and I work my way up to about 205 or 215 depending on how I feel. Just recently (about 2 months ago), I benched 225 pounds 8 times in my friend's garage. Not bad for someone who only weighs fuckin 160, huh? Not to mention, my max in benching is at about 300 pounds (Though some days are better than others I suppose). For shoulders, I love to do raises with dumbells. I'll start with 20 pounds and work my way up to 35 pounds. For anyone who knows about shoulder raises, they know that this work out is a bitch. It's rough as hell! But I guess it isn't too bad after you're used to it, as with anything else. I also do shoulder shrugs starting off with 150 pounds and going as high as 225 pounds for my last set. For triceps, I do tricep extensions starting with 20 pounds and ending with 40. I also do skull crushers starting with 50 pounds and ending with 95. I do close grip bench starting with 100 pounds and ending with about 145 pounds. So as you guys can see, I take my work outs VERY fuckin seriously. I lift 5 days a week and I do plenty of cardio and stretch routines on top of that. I've been working out since I was at least 14 years old, and I've stuck with it (unlike the many bitches out there who quit after a few months or so cuz they're weak and pathetic). You guys wanna get a decent idea of what I look like? Go check out my myspace then. The link is: http:www.myspace.com/bsabbath18 Of course, many of those pics don't do me justice as I'm the most cut I've ever been in my life. I credit this to my improved routines and increased attention to cardio. I don't watch what I eat at all though. I just make sure to EAT AS MUCH AS HUMANLY possible. If I do that, I figure I'm in good shape because my muscles need fed. haha That's why I laugh at fat people because they eat less than me and still get fat! I don't even have to worry! But yea...if I was fat, I would get off my ass and fix that problem. I mean, how could you look at yourself in the mirror and live with that shit? Like that's fucked up. Don't fat people have any self respect? How could you let yourself go like that? And don't give me excuses for people being fat because in most cases, they have no one to blame but themselves. Oh yeah....I also have an ab routine. I'll do 200 crunches, 200 sit ups, 200 vertical leg lifts, and about 90 side leg lifts. I'll also do six inch leg lifts where you have to spread your legs and close them frequently (used to do that one in football practice all the time when I was little). Of course, I don't do all those things in a row. For example, I might do 80 crunches and give myself a 2 minute break and do 80 more. But yeah, I'm a fuckin machine/beast/hulk/etc. and I'm VERY proud of my physical prowess. And I have every right to be. I mean, aren't sculptors, painters, and artists proud of their finished product? Well my product is my fuckin body and while it's always a work in progress (because I aim for perfection), I can still take pride in what I've accomplished. Let's face it people, it takes a lot of hard work, dedication, will power, sweat, and sacrifice to get what I now have. I didn't just go work out and end up with a body like this the next day, week, or even month for that matter. It took years....and not just to develop big muscles, but to become an all-around physically fit person. Too many people focus on only one aspect of physical fitness....I used to be that way when I was a little younger. All I wanted was raw incredible power, but I discovered that that was stupid. You should have a good balance of all three (Strength, Endurance, and Flexibility). I mean, what good are you if you can lift 500 pounds but can't run more than a mile? Or if you can't lift your arms above your head because you're too muscle bound? See my point? Anyway, sorry bout that rant, but I had to share what was on my mind. Feel free to leave comments. :haha: |
