Heh...I don't care if you guys read it or not. But maybe you all should get off your asses and start working out/exercising too? If you do already, then that's good for you. Your quality of life will be enhanced and you'll live longer. But if you don't, then what the hell could possibly be your reasoning? And don't give me the "I don't have time" bullshit excuse because you know damn well you can spare a half an hour or so out of your "busy" schedules. Do you guys think I'm an asshole? hahahaha I do, but that's okay because I take pleasure out of pissing people off. I sorta feed off of everyone's hate. |

I'm not sure what they're doing at the moment. They're obscure so you'll know there's a new album only after it's already released, most likely. I also have no clue as to touring. Also, I have listened to Talk Talk's Laughing Stock and am a changed man. Incredible. |

Not as consistently good (it has 1 or 2 "meh" songs) but it does have songs that are as good - if not better. That being said, I've stopped listening to them altogether for now. And post-rock in general, really - I think I overplayed it for a bit so I'm trying to get into indie, as well as other musical genres, right now. |

KN, I listened to most of the Radiohead songs you recommended to me (Paranoid Android, Let Down, Fake Plastic Trees and The National Anthem (I couldn't find Talk Show Host live)). They were alright, but if this is their best then I'm not impressed. |

^ agrees but it took me a few listens to their albums to get used to Yorke's voice too, though. But once I got used to The Bends / OK Computer, I loved all the other ones right away as well. Not sure if it's Jan's type of music though. |

I've listened to those four about three times now, and I'd listened to the entire OK Computer album once or twice as well before that. And I'd heard Paranoid Android before even that, because it's the ending song of Ergo Proxy (a short version, of course). It's not a bad song by any means, you won't hear me say that, but it's not "OMG I LOVE THIS STUFF" either. |

Happiness is a Warm Gun is like it (I believe I read it was one of the things paranoid android was inspired by), but it's extremely short unlike the other two (under 3 mins IIRC) those are the only 3 I know though :( |

Let's see... "Your Cover's Blown" by Belle and Sebastian "The Tain" by The Decemberists "The Island" by The Decemberists "It's All Gonna Break" by Broken Social Scene "Kissing the Beehive" by Wolf Parade (kinda a stretch) "One" by Metallica (but everyone knows that one) And really, if you like broken structures listen to the whole of "Separation Sunday" by The Hold Steady. Most of the songs lack choruses or any structure really, but they're all awesome songs. The songs frequently drift from melody to melody, and it's not unusual for a song to completely change once or twice over the course of four minutes.
Happiness is a Warm Gun is basically the ONLY inspiration for Paranoid Android... they had the three parts lying around and were influenced by that song to just combine them all together. Bonus trivia: the last part of the song (the 'rain down' part) was written entirely by the guitarist, Jonny Greenwood. |

Uh oh... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNrXNibNUC4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZVcn1iYPDU written around the same time, too >> (edit: apparently Glorious was written and played first... meh I prefer the Muse version anyway) Anyway, I can't get into Dream Theater at all. Most of the instrumental stuff is pretty awesome but the voice is just too metal-ish. And some of the riffs are totally unnecessary, like often happens in metal (too many riffs going on at the same time). Anyway I've been checking out that list of multi-segmented songs, along with some songs other recommended to me. Edited by Shadow, Jul 1 2008, 04:16 AM.

Dream Theater has some good songs, the best of which IMO is Octavarium. Especially the Continuum intro of that song is amazing. But overall I'm not a big fan of prog metal, which is what Dream Theater is. And unfortunately, a large part of the modern prog world is prog metal. :henteko: |
