Books aren't fun to read after you've seen the film, you always have to read the book first. And since there's no way I'm reading as many books as I watch films I think I'll continue to do this "wrong".

Besides, the films will always be crap after you've read the book, and I prefer enjoying my films like this =]

No, the movie was amazing either way. It was a great rendition of the book. But the book was a whole other experience by itself. I seriously recommend the book.

That

A lot of things got hollywoodized in the movie = me sad.

Still a good movie but book is so > movie.

And then read all his other books

People get so high and mighty when they've read the book, you know?
it's like:
" The book was much better than the movie."
Oh, really?, you know what I liked about watching the movie?
No Reading!
Yeah,. I watch it for a couple hours and then a take a nice nap afterwards. :up2:
That movie wore me out!

1) lol...OH NO READING, WAHTEVER SHALL WE DOOOO

2) A lot of things were changed in the movie...including the ending. It's not a direct translation in movie form.

It's about a chick who has been a bridesmaid 27 times and she's in love with this one guy but then her sister ends up dating that guy and they end up engaged. So the chick is all emo. But then there is a third guy who comes in and love blossoms, or does it? I won't spoil the end for you. :ensam:

I think Hollywood films usually have very manly-looking, yet somehow rather emotional, guys...

It's the Asian ones that have the girly looking bishis

Again, don't watch "PS I Love You".

I saw The Usual Suspects for the first time today, after noting that it was #20 on the 250 all-time best films list on IMDB. It was definitely a good movie and some rather well implemented plot twists, but I don't think it's top 20 material... very good movie, highly recommended, but it's not the kind of film that you want to watch more than once. At least, not me.

Watched Blood the Last Vampire...awesome animation and very entertaining.

The billingual thing really threw me off gaurd at first because the VHS box said "In English", and then the first things were subbed and I was like woooo and then it was in English and I was like booo and then it was back in Japanese and I was like wait, what? then it was like oooo ok I understand now! The English of Saya's VA wasn't very good though...Well, the English was fine, it was the emotion behind. Expecially at the very begining.

I'm sure like everyone has already seen it since it's a famous movie, but I never really watched movies before so grabbing the ones at the Library and finally watching them haha (Hence ninja scroll above!). Also have Princess Mononoke, Ghost in the Shell, Vampire Hunter D, and such that I have put a hold on and should have soon :D

You might like to know that the aforementioned Blood+ is based on Blood: the Last Vampire. It's definitely worth your time. It's pretty long (50 episodes), so there's a lot of depth and character development in it. Highly recommended.

I went with the Bebop movie first since I've been on such a Bebop high.

I had only seen it once before and I don't think I was...hmm, what am I looking for, mature?...enough to really be able to appreciate it, was a LOT better than I remember (though that goes for Bebop has a whole haha).

man I love my bebop

Even if it's been said, it deserves being said again:

I recommend Code Geass to any anime fan. It's made by CLAMP (Card Captor Sakura is one of their best known) but it's a lot more mature and 'deep' than CCS. The art is quality. It's a little bit of mecha, but not enough to really be a reason to not watch it. The second season is being released in April.

I really enjoyed it (I even got a C.C. figurine XD), so I highly recommend it. Go watch.

EDIT: The character designs are done by CLAMP, it's being made by Sunrise.

watched Black magic M-66

first anime to be based of a manga by the guy who did Ghost in the Shell and such

entertaining but nothing special. it's pure action and at only about an hour long, really doesn't have much time to build up a story. But I've been loving the 80's anime lately so it was nice

Maybe not stories but definitely the way those stories are displayed. And no, I'm not talking about visuals. I'm talking about the pace of the film, and everything that comes with it: thriller-moments, humour... even acting and general and the script. Despite all the crappy films these days I think the film industry has learned a lot from past films.

but I didn't realize it was this amazing

the story, man...so great, I loved that there wasn't really a 'right' side (well the small guy was obviously EVILZ but I mean like the mill v.s. the forest). the animation. THE MUSIC! man I need to download that soundtrack

well my library has over 30 newtype DVDs

I haven't really paid attention to them but the branch I go to had one on the shelf so I picked it up

A nice way to check out anime :)

Although not all is sub :(

The one I got has Comic Party Revolution TV, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki, and Moon Phase. Comic Party (by ADV Films) is both dubbed or subbed. Tenchi Muyo and Moon phase (by FUNimation) is only dubbed. Fuck that. Fuck FUNimation. Suck my dick FAGimation

So puting all those DVDs all hold haha

mother fucking see this right NOW

that goes for everybody here

Technically, it's edited a lot like Perfect Blue is, very quick scene changes which can be complicated at times. But like Perfect Blue, it just adds to the story. Which, by itself, is fucking amazing. It really is amazing that Kon could create something like Perfect Blue, then go a completely different direction and be just as fucking good. The drama is real, the comedy scenes are actually funny unlike most anime scenes that try to be funny...god damn just HURRY UP AND WATCH IT

God Satoshi Kon is a fucking genius.

Just saw American Psycho, the blackest of black comedies. So black that most people would say it's a horror or thriller, I guess it's a combination of those 3. Brilliant film, brilliant acting.

Now excuse me, I have to go return some tapes.
