Eh I guess you should just download one season then. Season one is far from the best but you'll get a general picture of whether or not you want to keep watching.

Of course, my real answer would be "watch Arrested Development", but after you do every show from then on will fail in comparison.

Yeah I thought I linked to that one as well, but it seems I linked twice to the same page. I use surfthechannel too.

http://www.tvokay.com can have some good ones
http://www.sidereel.com obviously has a big collection of website who do these kind of things

there's loads more out there but more often than not these 4 suffice.

finished beck last night and now I'm sad :-(

in my hung of re-watching anime I liked, I think I'm going to go with kgne or saikano next. Probably kgne because I've only seen kgne once, seen saikano a few times.

hehe [nostalgia]KGNE has been the only series I've ever watched week to week as it came out, back in 11th grade. was something where I always thought about it during the week and was camping the fansubbers site for the next ep haha. Never been able to do that with any other anime (with beck I only lasted 6 episodes in haha)[/nostalgia]

I couldn't get into KGNE when I tried to rewatch it. When I watched it the first time it was so good, though, completely made me depressed

Why don't you try a few new anime?

I'm still catching up with old seasons, after I caught up with Code Geass yesterday I've been watching quite a bit of Mushi-Shi now, another brilliant anime. I'll be sad when this one is finished =/

EDIT: Oh and I have yet to watch Saikano, it'll be one of the few I watch next, though. Baccano! first, probably. It's good to know there's so many masterpieces left for me to see :seduce:

EDIT2: The only show I'm currently rewatching is Samurai Champloo because I bought it on DVD - it's almost as good the second time around because I know more about Japan and Japanese cultures now. Oh and I seriously need to rewatch Elfen Lied, can't believe I've only seen that one once.

Yeah I'm really glad I decided to keep watching it; I can't watch many episodes in a day like I did with Geass but this is the perfect anime to just watch once a week. Definitely one of my favourite anime as well, I'll probably buy it on DVD eventually (and I only did that with Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and Beck so far).

Watching the first episode of SaiKano; so far the romance part is pretty cute (not liking all of it, though...) but OMG the attack of the planes was so well done! Usually you see the attack from the sky so it doesn't seem all that threatening, but from the ground it's way scarier and realistic (I assume). The fact that buildings were blowing up everywhere and people were actually dying really made it a strong scene.

Eh, don't mind me, I'm just bitching about everything because I was hoping for more =/ I absolutely love the story itself but there's way too many terribly written scenes/conversations that prevent it from being the absolute masterpiece that it could be.

Holy shit the OVA shows nipples! It's so got an advantage on the series now.

Pretty depressed after Saikano (and the OVA's) was done. I guess I should blame myself for watching all that depressing stuff (seemed to me that Chise was crying more often than not) in 2 days.

My mood after watching half a Lucky Star episode after all that depressing stuff: :haha: (they had multiple 24-parody scenes, a hilarious Pokemon reference as well as a meal that was so disgusting they had to censor/blur it out)

Thank you, Lucky Star :up2:

Lucky Star = by far the best slice of life serie I've ever seen. And possibly comedy, too.

It constantly breaks the 4th wall. It's great at random stuff, too.

Studio 4 C are geniuses. Here's some proof (a lovely 10 minute long gothic fairytale). They made loads of these short movies, just look for "Studio 4°C" on youtube.

Here's a lovely 10 minute one called Kung Fu Love:

Finished a bunch of anime. I'll keep it short because I'm being lazy, if you've got any questions or you want personal recommendations go ahead.

Mushi-Shi

Posted Image

Amazing anime (easily one of the best I've ever seen), very episodic, that tells the tale of a "mushi-shi" - a traveler who visits people houses and helps them with their "mushi" (an organic life form similar to bacteria, but more... spiritual) problems. Mushi are the cause of many of the phenomenons we have, or so this beautiful story tells us. Don't watch too many in one go (I couldn't anyway).

Texhnolyze

Very obscure cyber-punk anime with themes such as power, politics and some very deep stuff indeed. I didn't enjoy watching it. Not because it's bad (in many ways it's a masterpiece), but because it's a really obscure piece of art, not an anime. The story it tells is amazing and will please anyone with a love for all things cyber-punk. Not sure if I recommend this to anyone, but if you like shows like Serial Experiments Lain you might like it (I liked it more than that btw) as it's from the same creator.

Toshokan Sensou

Posted Image

Full Metal Panic-esque anime, but not nearly as good. It has a cool visual style and some interesting (yet cliche) characters but the story is ridiculous.

And I've finished Saikano almost a week ago as well.

First of all, I heard something about a relatively new movie (currently playing in the cinema) which reminded people of The Matrix and Equilibrium, does anyone know what I'm talking about? I didn't quite catch the title. (EDIT: It could've been Wanted I think...)

Has anyone seen Baccano!? I'm currently watching it and it's totally badass - there's about 20 main characters in there and events leading up to a train crash are shown from the perspective of all the characters. Quite a complicated story and sometimes we find out stuff that happened after people talk about it (thus adding to the confusion - like in Memento). Very mature anime too, lotsa gore, crazy people and crazy events.

Oh and I finished Lucky Star, my new favourite school life/slice of life anime. It's better than Minami-Ke and I think everyone who enjoyed that - and Haruhi - will enjoy this a lot.

I watched Pan's Labyrinth a few days ago.

Posted Image

It's a Spanish film, and you could call it a fantasy movie, but don't get the wrong idea. It can be cruel and gory sometimes; it's definitely not a children's film. It is a very good movie, though. Just look at the ratings on IMDb (link above) and other movie rating sites, you'll see it gets good ratings all over the place. It even got three Oscars.

The story according to IMDb:

IMDb

In 1944 fascist Spain, a girl, fascinated with fairy-tales, is sent along with her pregnant mother to live with her new stepfather, a ruthless captain of the Spanish army. During the night, she meets a fairy who takes her to an old faun in the center of the labyrinth. He tells her she's a princess, but must prove her royalty by surviving three gruesome tasks. If she fails, she will never prove herself to be the the true princess and will never see her real father, the king, again.

Screen time is divided fairly between the real world and the fantasy world; both get plenty of attention and are explored significantly.

If you like fantasy films but want something more mature, or if you don't mind drama nor fantasy, I suggest you check it out. It's worth your time!
