Tokyo Marble Chocolate

Production I.G. does it again - a quite good romantic comedy. It's only 2 eps, though, but they have some interesting concepts going on, as well as a pleasings style.
Not the best romance anime ever, though - not even the best I've recently watched as I am currently watching Bokura Ga Ita which has the fastest pace I've ever seen in a romantic anime, a very welcome change. It only takes a little over an episode for the girl to confess to the guy! It's also quite funny.

That's about it for now - although I've finished Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and I'm currently watching Jigoku Shoujo, Kino no Tabi and... Sketchbook:

I know! I'm sure you'll like this anime - it's much more realistic (especially the characters and their decisions) and not as overdramatized as most romantic anime, and thus not nearly as frustrating. I'm not a huge fan of the style, though:

I'm actually starting on it tomorrow :hehe: I finished all of my other anime (sayonara, tengen etc) at the same time so I could pick up a few new ones, but Tokyo Marble Chocolate was on the top of my list and only 2 episodes, so I'm starting to watch Sketchbook - as replacement for it - tomorrow. And Azumanga hopefully in September. Yeah, I made a list with a bunch of anime I've downloaded and still need to see - I think I'll easily be occupied with them (and new anime like Nodame Cantabile Paris-hen) for the next 12 months orso.

EDIT: Trying to watch different genre anime at the same time, too :hehe: a comedy, a thriller, a drama, a romance and an action one

Here's some stuff I still hope to see soon: Genshiken, Ichigo Mashimario, Last Exile, Eureka seveN, Dennou Coil, Speed Grapher, Wolf's Rain, Mahou Tsukai, Jigoku Shoujo 2, ef - a tale of memories, Higurashi + sequel, Shigofumi, Gantz, The Three Kingdoms, several .Hack series, FMA, School Rumble, Yakitate, Scrapped Princess, Black Lagoon + sequel, xxxHolic + sequel, Chobits, Clannad, Samurai X, Hellsing, D Grayman and several other I have on DVD I can't be arsed to look up.

Hey if it was up to me this thread would absolutely be bursting with discussions about anything animated - be it movies, tv series or anime. But you people never post here, thus I only end up talking about the stuff I have seen, which is mostly movies and anime right now (given that there's not a single good program on the TV in the summer).

Aw, got a few pubes and suddenly feel all grown up and too old for some good old-fashioned movie magic like Disney?

I watched it with my (2 year older) brother, one of his friends and both my parents - we all loved it. Oh, and so did the rest of the world - I think something's wrong with you.

EDIT: I guess you didn't notice all the deeper stuff that a 10 year old wouldn't get either?

So I saw The Dark Knight a few hours ago. It was really good, but not the masterpiece some people make it out to be. Still one of the best superhero movies ever, though (and the Batman Begins movies seem to be the best superhero movie series ever...). Could've definitely used a little more Bruce Wayne - most of the scenes where Christian Bale got to act without the costume were really good (and funny!) and I still think the deep voice he does as Batman is silly.

The Joker was awesomerific.

Now there's something you don't see every day. God I love Japan.

And... yes, Japan even has guys who have their entire house filled with "love dolls" and doll body parts.

Posted Image

The guy standing there was interviewed and admitted that his favourite doll, Nana-chan, was an older model of which the body had slowly decayed over time but he still kept the head.

(I had to blur out the face cause it's me, obviously)

I doubt he does, it seemed like he was really careful with the dolls. Except late at night, but they've got a replaceable vagina and whatnot, so that part is expandable. He seemd quite fond of the head, out of all his love dolls (he's got dozens upon dozens) he still liked her the most.

Oh, and Japan also has a penis festival.

"Lost" is awesome. I just got season one from a buddy and seriously this show kicks ass. Fuck the haters.

Btw, I hear Johnny Depp is slated to play The Riddler in the next Batman flick alongside Phillip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin, none if this info is on IMDB as of yet, buuuuut I've got a damn good source.

I just know that's not gonna happen but holy shit it would be awesome (and at the same time it would kinda suck cause Depp is better in indie/unknown films).

And I've yet to watch Lost, but I caught up with Scrubs the past year so I might as well watch Lost now.

Yes, you should watch Lost. And I'd be willing to bet it is gonna happen, though we've seen Depp in interesting roles in the past, you should know, he is also doing Sin City 3 a very well-known and public feature(Which IS on IMDB). Apparently filming for the third Bat will take place sometime between Shantaram and Dark Shadows (two more features Mr.Depp is currently involved with). Personally I'm more excited to see Phillip Hoffman, he is gonna fuckin steal the show as long as they center the film around him and leave The Riddler as more of a filler villain...just my thoughts...

I've never seen IMDB wrong. Though I cant honestly say I've kept good enought tabs on it, I can gurantee Johnny Depp will be in Sin City 3, I work in post-production, the only reason its flagged as rumored is due to a lack of announcements from Depp's publicist, but when a mechanical contract has been signed there is little anyone can do to nulify said document.

Finished Hot Gimmick about a month ago

out of 10, with 5 being average, I'd say it was 6/10. I probably wouldn't read it again but it was about average reading over it the first time. My main problem is the complete unrealistic relationships, the lack of character progression, and who she actually ends up with. For those who don't think they'll read it, the following is spoilerssss going more in depth about that

Spoiler: click to toggle

So started average, horrible middle, great end...but having to go through those first several volumes to get to the last few is bull, so it only gets 6/10 from me (just barely over average)

There's also a novel that rewrites the ending, and I thought I'd love it cuz she goes to the guy I wanted, but it was really fucking horrible. It was written by someone else but the mangaka still had input on the thing. It also might have been the translation that ruined it but I doubt it, cuz it was fucking terrible beyond belief.

I also mostly finished Angel Sanctuary. My library only had the first 19 volumes so I have to download the last volume and read that on my computer. Well, my library does have the 20th volume, but it's in spanish. They don't have a spanish edition of any other volume, just the very last volume. Which they don't have an english version of. uh, what?

And now I'm started Ayashi no Ceres. I'm only halfway through the first volume cuz I had to leave the gym early but omfg I'm really love it so far. Yuu Watase has got to be one of the better mangaka. I mean, I've only read Alice 19th, but that was good, and looking at the ratings her other manga get, she constantly is able to produce good manga.

Quote:

The series focuses on Aya Mikage, who learns on her sixteenth birthday that she is the reincarnation of a celestial maiden (天女, tennyo?) named Ceres, and her twin brother Aki the reincarnation of Ceres' former husband. Ceres begins manifesting in Aya. To try to save her brother, Aya must find Ceres' lost celestial robe (羽衣, hagoromo?), while trying to avoid being killed or captured by her own family, who wants to use Ceres powers for their own gain.

I've been reading a book full of conspiracy theories known as "The Illuminatus".
Any of you guys ever read it or hear of it before?
It's actually a challenging book to read because it switches between different people and view points through out the story. This book also references many events in history that I'm unfamiliar with...

I just saw a new movie a few nights ago titled "Righteous Kill". It stars Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino.
I didn't think much of the movie when I saw it on the previews....I mean, I really picked it because it was the only decent looking movie available at the time for a girl (who I was taking out on a date) and myself to watch.

So anyways, the movie turned out to be pretty sweet. It had a lot of action in it, violence (but not overly gory), good acting (Deniro and Pacino are the shit), and a really nice twist in the end. Even 50 Cent was in it! :haha:

I would definitely recommend this movie, especially if you're real into crime flicks. :up2:

I've been watching house lately. On the third season now.

First season I really liked outside of the black dude becoming board of directors I hated that whole thing.

Second season wasn't as good as first season, picked up at the end, but overall was worse. Still entertaining though.

Been loving the third season so far. I just finished the episode where the dad kills himself to give his heart to his son, awsm. Awsm to the max. The cop thing is kinda annoying but is atleast better than the black dude in season 1. Wish it'd just be a 30 minute episode though and cut out the annoying people trying to bring house down.

I'm on the third season as well, catching up... very slowly. While I absolutely love House (who doesn't) and his attitude (who doesn't), every single episode goes exactly the same way. Yes, the stories are well written, the acting's good and House's humour makes up for the stale formula, but I cannot possibly watch more than 2 episodes per day =/

I also saw Dragonball Evolution and had to get a bit tipsy to actually enjoy it. Best worst film of the year, great if you're watching it with friends who don't mind making fun of DBZ. The final 30 minutes of the film - including the final battle - looked painfully bad, the filter they used was awful and don't even get me started on all the changes they made. The only good things were Roshi and Chi-Chi/Bulma providing some aesthetic comforting.

I liked 2 or 3 episodes so far. Some of it is really good but there's some obvious changes to keeps things fresh, some work out for the best... most don't.

Just got back from seeing Star Trek. Absolutely stunning film, very decent acting and overall very enjoyable. But if you make a film about time traveling, make sure you get all the details right - the amount of plot holes was annoying. Since it's Star Trek I was expecting more intelligence and less action... they could and perhaps should've been more true to the original series, now it's just another sci-fi film.
