Iam a little emotional about this one , half of me wants to cry for the loss of peoples innocents , and the other half wants to tear someones head off and shove it whe..... My son is 10 . He is a member of the WWE wrestling mb , you know , the american wrestling stuff . He and his mates are in to it . They know its fake but they like it . Well they post on there MB , but when my son signed up to it i tried to protect him . NO real name . NO place where he lived , just Australasia . NO real hobbies , nothing that would give him away . And today he got a , how do i say it , raunchy e-mail . Saying " ive read your interests and iam into it to , and maybe we could take our friendship further..etc etc ? ...My sons 10 . Do i try and pass the e-mail to the wwe ? not that they'll reply , ignore it . Or reply to it myself . I dont really want to band my son from the wwe mb , its not his fault ? . |

Is there some sort of Moderator/Admin set up you could pass it on to for investigation? I suppose this could be some sort of Spam message that's been sent to loads of people, sort of fishing to see what replies are forthcoming, rather than personally targeting your boy. I reckon it does need to be brought to the attention of the Board owners/Administrators anyway rather than just deleted - just a thought, do your Police have any interest in what might be a case of child "grooming" IF it is specific rather than a general e-mail? :unsure Hope you managed to get to the message before your son anyway - or if not, all credit to him for telling you about it. flors PS Please send some warm sunshine! :D Fed up with fr33zing already! |

As Aunty Puffin said, I would flag it up with the Moderators/Admin. Failing that, if you can, just block private messages or ignore them. |

Does the person who PMmed him know he's only 10? How old is that other person? It might be entirely innocent, or it might not. If you don't want your son to use the PM function, you can ask an admin to take it away from him if the board software allows this. |

One of my mates is a policeman , and i have shown him the e-mail . He said the best thing i could do at the moment , and i have done it , was to e-mail the WWE FORUM , as they have a contact us link , and have told them what was sent , and passed the e-mail to them . Also asked them to "Stop" all e-mails and "PM's" to my sons user name . Hopefully this is the answer . But iam still fumming that kids can't , just be kids on a forum , that i would have never thought adults would want to go to . The again as a mate pointed out to me , i was being a bit nieve if i thought that. Also , i appologise for the harsh and not so nice language i used in my original post .Sorry... |

I think you have defintely done the right thing, Conor. It's just a real shame, as you say, that you actually have to. :( While I'm against all the over-the-top police checks on parents and relatives of kids at clubs , school outings etc etc, that was supposed to happen in UK, I am also aware that nowadays it's easier in the anonymous electronic world for the potential molesters etc to get a foot in the door. I imagine they taget sites frequented by children. The Admin have to be alerted so they can close doors, and parents also have to be vigilant - no so easy as the kids get older. Good luck with it! flors i |
