Despite the billions of dollars changing hands, the political furore and the loss of one of the oldest names in British business, the question on many lips is simple: is it curtains for the Curly Wurly?

I didn't realise there was such an interesting history behind the Cadbury family.

They created the town of Bournville to house their workers and they made gardens and parks for their workforce to enjoy.

I also had to smile when I saw the ITV reporter was dressed in purple and black to report from the factory, she looked like a bar of dairy milk!!!!

Very sad to see this company go over to the Americans....(no offence Laurie!!)

Yes it's really sad to see such a British institute being taken over, I guess all the shareholders are looking at is how much money they will make rather than the effect the takeover will have on the workforce :(

I live two miles from the other and major cadburys factory that used to be Frys years ago. For a few years they were going to shut this factory and mover production to poland. I wonder if this will save our factory. Its probably the biggest factory in our wee part of the world.

The history as you say Rc is very intresting. The Frys part of cadburys have given keynesham and the surronding areas much of the years. Housing schooling etc it was a family buisness that really really did look after its workers.

Nasty, sticky, sugar-filled, fattening teeth-rotting toffee things! :twist

Not good for Buntatas (or Spuds, or bears - 'specialy not bears as they stick all their fur together). :twist :twist

Cream eggs, now they're a different matter altogether! :D
