Here is the link to the in progress game design document

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1r9asHdoDwmb7N-f-Z0aR5iGrIRYHE9MDerx_wzViZqg/edit#heading=h.6c951otyg0ie

anyone can comment on it so we are looking for suggestions

The information there should be enough to get started on sprites and our initial level design

I'm planning a meeting sunday at 9pm EST to discuss the project
------
This weeks plan has three parts, game design, prototyping, and testing

Creative team will be designing the levels, enemies, bosses, and gameplay

The programming team will be making prototypes of the features listed in the game design document so we can see them in action

The testing team will play the prototypes and give feedback to refine the gameplay

This will set us up the tools we need for the development phase the next 4 weeks

One thing I don't know is how non-programmers will be able to edit levels but I'll research that

I've rewritten the first section (up to and including the 'gameplay description' for clarity, grammar and so on. I'll get onto the other bits later.

Edit: I have now also rewritten the section on the Totems' powers. I think you might have to approve the changes I've made before they become public, though?

I changed the permissions on the doc so only mr.e can make edits, when he gets online he will see your comments

Edit: just read it awesome, I approve of completely merciless copyediting :)

We could really use some storyboards and concept art to visualize some of the things that the document is describing

Merciless is sometimes best! What is it they say in Pirates of the Caribbean? Take what you can, give nothing back? Something like that? Pretty much every course or lesson or teacher or whatever I've had on writing seems to agree that getting rid of as much as you possibly can tends to be a good thing, although putting something in its place is often good too.

I think maps can be built with Unity prefabs and that means no coding for the most part. The way maps are proposed makes me think in just visuals and colliders, so that should be easy.

Respect to the totems, i think it doesnt say how the refill the ability bar. But i think it can be just stuff like kill foes.

Also what makes the platforming special? or whats the challenge in fighting? is it a mix of both platforming and fighting??
Also considering all Totems use one bar, can we jump freely between totem forms? Because since we have dashing and gliding i was thinking in the fast paced combat that was proposed for Escher and Page. You switch between forms to tackle certain enemies or sections, and we mix them trough the levels.

Also a long jump for the Bunny might be harder to balance than double-jump, maybe we should do the later.
Im gonna start making the Totem abilities, i have an idea of how to make all but the time freeze.

Would it be possible to add another page/ document/ whatever to our current folio of Googlr docs where we can put the script?

Go ahead and make a fresh doc for the script. You don't have to give everyone edit permissions but you should let anyone add comments like the design doc is now. Just put a link here and a link in the comments of the design doc.

Ideally we would have an overall story and a story for each level. Then we can pull ideas from there for enemies and hazards and powers.

I'm not super familiar with Google Docs - how do I change edit permissions and so on?

Share button in the upper right corner sets permissions
