Meetings were productive as always, thanks to everyone who attended My main announcement was that I would like a standalone "alpha" build by the end of this week. I would like to see standalone game skeleton/stub that is playable all of the way through. We won't have our content but the shell will be there that will be functional. You start the program, see the studio animation and go to the title. Then start the game. Select the levels, walk the toon through them, unlock the final level, walk through it, see the ending screen, then go back to title. For the unfinished levels we can just use a player toon an an exit door as a placeholder. With this finished we will see the main game loop in action and some of the work that everyone has been doing. This is mostly up to the programming team so please bring me any concerns. -------------------------- MrE brought up recruitment and I don't know exactly how everything is progressing so I would like the leads to handle this. If anyone needs more manpower in their respective areas let me or MrE know. -------------------------- I also would like to apologize for not being experienced enough to put together a workable development schedule. I made the goals based on my experience as a solo developer and they aren't realistic for an all-volunteer team working entirely online. I'll keep updating the schedule but please look at that more as guidelines rather than hard and fast deadlines. Instead what I will do is post what I consider to be specific and attainable goals that we can achieve by the end of the week. Please PM me if there are any concerns or questions about the goals or if they need any clarification. And also if you don't know what you should be working on please look at the Trello board, PM the leads, or PM me and we will put you to work. -------------------------- We are now in our 6th week of the project and based on personal experience I know that around this time is when the initial enthusiastic energy has started to drain and we are looking ahead at a lot of work, some of which is entirely unfun. The important thing is to keep our overall goal in mind, we want to make a high quality game. Keep taking small steps and always encourage and support your team members. Thanks for everyone's hard work and effort. |

Something that one of my old jobs did was assign a staff member to be 'head of incentives', which basically just meant coming up with as much stuff as possible to keep people motivated. I really don't want our motivation to start draining away - I wanna make like AT LEAST MANY GAMES with you guys, so maybe it would be beneficial to... I have no concrete ideas, but somehow find a way to boost our morale and motivation? Might be worth thinking about. |

How bout we all play online, once in a while... That would be fun, and would increase our teamwork. |

I like that idea, if there's common ground. What do people play? |

Anything, really... Hell, we can play games on fb, if we want. Doesnt matter. The more people playing a sngle game, the better. Even have private matches, maybe if a lot of us are playing... |

I can lame at Team Fortress if you want XD. (or LoL, but that game can be annoying, honestly id be much better playing something like Halo Reach, its free this month on XboxLive) Or how about a RP game at that page where we used to have meetings? (i dont know anything about D&D but i recall the basics of GURPS). |

I'm up for that, as soon as I have unlimited broadband again (currently on a data limit while we're moving house) - should be about 3 weeks or so. I play L4D (1 and 2), TF2, all Halos and Gears of War 1/2 on Xbox 360, also Warhammer 40k Dawn of War and most Total War games (for something a bit different). If anyone plays The Secret World, I'm also on there on the Daemon server, so hit me up if you fancy running a few missions together

I'm in Europe, so team building with me can probably best not be done with something that requires quick reactions. I'm up for a game of Worms though. |
