![]() Sword Art Online was 2012's most popular anime, and probably most the most polarizing. Sword Art Online takes place in the future where the titular Virtual MMORPG has just been released and people enter the game via a helmet called the nerve gear. After the release, players in the game discover that they are unable to log out. The creator of the game appears before the players and mentions that there are only two ways to leave the game. Someone either has to beat the game, or you die. Though if you die, you die in real life. You follow the story of beta tester, and solo player, Kirito on his quest through SAO on his journey to beat the game. The show has recently started airing the English Dub in the US on Adult Swim on the Toonami block. |

I thought it was kind of mediocre, (I've ranted about this before) it's flawed, but definitely not terrible. It's one of those that you have to watch it yourself to see if you like it or not. |

I watched 8 episodes thought it was pretty average and dropped it. Don't get all the hype really suppose I have the wrong mindset since I don't see Kirito as bada** if he doesn't actually train to get strong, and he doesn't actually fight properly - instead he just swings his sword - and he gets women without really doing anything. That's my other: the character development. The female characters aren't memorable since not much is known about them and they all randomly fall in love with Kirito with no explanation. The fights like I mentioned are less than lacklustre since he just swings his sword once or something and then it's over. Maybe later there are other fights but still not good enough. So basically it's quite enjoyable but has not much substance so is average. Oh yeh and it's kinda annoying how Kirito has the same nickname as Gatts from Berserk yet goes through nothing as harrowing as him and never puts in the work that he does. |

I did really dislike how most of the female characters all meet him in one episode, fall in love with him, and you never hear from them until the very last episode. |
