I stopped getting Pokemon games at Diamond/Pearl. When I see the new Pokemon since then, I kinda feel like they're pretty dumb and silly. I'm really not saying that because I don't get the games anymore. I'm still a Pokemon fan and wouldn't even want to hate, but I think since D/P, the designs and names got a little bit lame. Of course there are still cool ones and even the older games had stupid ones, but I think most of the new generations are really bad. What do you think? PS: Is "Pokemon" even acceptable as plural? I feel like writing Pokemons or even Pokemen (lol), since Pokemon doesn't sound good as plural. |

By Gen 8, Diamond and Pearl would be like Red and Blue compared to the Gen 8 games. They will be incredibly dated. Not now, but in the future. |

Yeah, it would be dated, but not in the same way. Only because it's old doesn't mean it's remake-worthy. Remakes are there, to give you better performance and mainly better graphics. Wii and DS games have great graphics, so why remake them? You can play Wii games on the Wii U and you can play DS games on the 3DS. So why? That's lazy. Edited by Terror, Sep 11 2013, 02:03 AM.

It isn't lazy. The DS probably is less powerful than an N64, and has crappy graphics. 3DS graphics are PS2-tier. I'm saying, Gen 8 will look so flawless, D/P would look really old. Remakes occur for a few reasons: 1) To update graphics. (R/B and FR/LG are great examples of this). 2) To improve quality and performance. 3) To introduce old games to a new batch of players, and reintroduce it to the old, creating a great sense of nostalgia (HG/SS are also great examples of this). If you remember playing Majora's Mask on N64 as a child, and want to play it in this day and age, but don't have an N64, it's only logical to want a remake on a 3DS or Wii U. The first and second gens have both been remade, third gen is next up, then the fourth. |

There's people out there that when a new console comes out, they refuse to play old games because they now have a new standards for graphics and refuse to play older games that are only one gen old.
I wouldn't say it's "logical" it's more of that's what you want, Nintendo and Sony acknowledged that people still want to play old games, that's why we have the Virtual Console and PS1/2 classics. You can still reintroduce the game to younger audiences and still let the older people replay their classic game. |

R/B was black and white. RF/LG is a good example of a remake. But D/P isn't even close to what R/B was like. Majora's Mask was on the N64. Obviously it would be good to have a remake of it, but you keep changing the topic. It's not about N64 games. It's about Wii and DS remakes. There are: 1. Remakes, which make sense and make the game look way better 2. Remakes, which are unnecessary and are mainly made to sell without the developers having to create something new @Grungie - I know people are like that, but the graphics didn't change much from Wii to Wii U. 3DS did have a bigger change, but only because it's more 3D, not graphic-quality wise. |

I was kind of agreeing with you, especially since remaking a game that's only one gen old is kind of unecessary, especially if it's on a backwards compatible console |

I know you were agreeing. I didn't mean to make it sound like I'm correcting you or something like that. :D It's because you said people now have new standards. Just meant to say that it's true, even though the graphics since the Wii are almost the same. |

They do in the anime and stuff, take from that what you will. If they remake anything I want it to be a Sapphire / Ruby / Emerald remake. |

Wahnsinn, have you ever played any Nintendo consoles? The improvement in graphics from Wii to Wii U was massive, as the Wii U is the only Nintendo console with HD graphics. The 3DS graphics are a lot smoother than the DS. Every DS game looked really choppy. When I say the 3DS' graphics are PS2-tier, I mean it. If you don't believe me, look at the fantastic Fire Emblem cutscenes. |

First of all, how about you stop being rude? Yes, I did play enough Nintendo console to know what I'm talking about. There is an improvement, I didn't say there wasn't, but it's not the same as from N64 to GC. Not every DS game looked choppy. And I didn't say the 3DS had a small improvement. I can imagine why people wouldn't want to play a GC game on the Wii U, but a Wii game isn't anywhere near bad graphics. That's what I'm talking about. DS sure didn't have the best graphics, but at least the Pokemon games did, since they were just sprites. So the only good reason for a remake of D/P would be to make it 3D. My point is: PS2 to PS3 remakes make sense. PS3 to PS4 remakes don't make sense, but you can't play PS3 games on the PS4. Same goes for Wii/Wii U, but you can play Wii games on it. Wii graphics just aren't bad enough to deserve a remake. |
